9.) UCLA

I for sure will chance you back as best as I can.
Thank you so much for your time and effort!

Take the real exams and then ask again. Also, the fact that you have mostly B’s in your advanced classes doesn’t bode well.

Your grades definitely need to improve for those schools. Try to get straight As from now on, because those schools average 3.75+ unweighted GPAs. As for your ACT, getting in the upper 30’s would be really beneficial to balance out the lower grades. I think you have a good foundation in your extracurriculars, but try to get a leadership position in a club and maybe for piano you can try competing in competitions? I play piano and I’m actually going to start teaching piano now, so there’s an idea. Here’s my “chance me” thing I created a while ago, so you can answer that  good luck!

Schedule is mediocre, grades could be much better, and your extracurriculars are relatively weak (no leadership?). Any awards?

(And sorry for being so disparaging.)

you dont have to go to a top 20 college, just saying. They’re good reach schools, however.

Also being Indian (Asian) might not help, since asians are overrepresented minorities.

Use it, please.

Also how’d you score so high on the ACTs while being in Algebra II?

I recommend taking a look at what you really want to do and going from there. You’re a sophomore so it’s still early. You can raise your grade up if you really applied all your efforts. However, those schools you mentioned are reaches for almost everyone, with no guarantee of getting in even if you have straight A’s. That’s why I recomend you look into other schools as well. Nothing wrong with having a dream school, but those can’t be the only schools you apply to. I echo some of the other posters that grades and leadership could be improved.

And jarjarbinks23 is absolutely right. Just because those schools are highly sought after doesn’t mean they are the best fit for you. When I started looking into colleges, although a couple of those schools you mentioned were on my list, I realized I liked some of the other schools I visited BETTER, and was a better fit for me than the colleges I had wanted to go to based on rankings alone. So, look out for those gems, because you may find yourself with a community that you will be happier and have more opportunities with in the long run.

What do you mean? Is this not HSL/CC? Shouldn’t I only apply to the USNWR Top #20 and look down at the plebes who go below that? Shouldn’t I take 7+ APs when I really can’t handle it? Shouldn’t I BS my way through high school while cheating and doing reprehensible things while sing overt racism to justify college rejections?

Shawn Spencer is correct OP.
