Chance Me for Admissions - Wake Forest

Hi, I have a 4.0 UW GPA (4.132 Weighted) and applied to Wake Forest test optional because I only have a 1300 on my SAT. My work load is moderate - school options are very limited, only 4 AP and 1 honor in which I have taken already. I mostly have core classes and one AP course and I am an OOS male Filipino student from Hawaii, if this info helps. Please chance me for admission to Wake Forest keeping in mind I applied test-opt!

Other schools I applied to are also Franklin and Marshall, Skidmore, Syracuse, WashU (super reach), American (also applied test optional), and College of Holy Cross. Could I also have estimates on these?

Well you are in the 25 percentile for your SAT score and you do have a multitude of accolades. While considering Wake Forest has an acceptance rate of 29% (I just looked it up online). I feel this school could possibly be a low reach. Your GPA could possibly pull your SAT score up so I wouldn’t really worry! Good luck!

Being a test optional school will certainly help (Don’t send the 1300. I wouldn’t send anything below a 1400 as it’s not necessary and will detract from your 4.0) Your ECs are interesting and focused around government. I would “package” that in your writing supplements as they will like a deep dive in that area. You may want to mention Wake DC (called something like that). Brand new program this yr . It’s a study in DC program with Wake professors in a facility that Wake purchased right in the middle of things . Fantastic program for those interested in Politics, history, policy, etc. Combines work, class and lectures all while taking in DC for a semester. Study up on it and weave that in to your “Why Wake” question. That will show a lot of interest. Also, it’s a phenomenal program.

Also, being from Hawaii is a hook as they are interested in expanding their national reach.

Good luck.
