Hi guys. I'm in the process of applying to econ grad schools for an MA. I want to focus on agricultural economics and ID. My problem is I have a 3.3 GPA (a lot less focus on classes, too much on several jobs and activities throughout college) and no research background in the field. I have worked pretty constantly throughout undergrad to help support myself. My undergrad degree is economics, but I only have econometrics and calculus classes and nothing more advanced on the math side. I went to an Ivy, but I'm pretty sure that given the rest of this that will help very little. I'm preparing for the GRE, and I tested okay on the GMAT (710, both verb and quant above 85 percentile, but verb higher than quant).

So given all this, do you have any advice? Would it be possible to get into a good agricultural econ program? Any recommendations for programs?

How should I go about strengthening my math background? Would taking classes as a non-degree math student at a local university be possible?

Any advice would be much appreciated.
