Chance me for all my colleges please?

Sup, I plan on double majoring in Government and Economics for my pre-law degrees. I'm a white male from rural Pennsylvania. My high school sends maybe 1-2 people a year to Ivy League, and sometimes none.

My parents announced their separation a week before I started my freshman year, which severely impacted my grades. Then a close friend of mine killed herself when I was in 10th grade, which also impacted my grades for a bit. But I got through all of that and got a 4.0 junior year, which gave me an upward trend.

Total Unweighted GPA: 3.61
Weighted GPA (No real scale): 97.701

Recommendations: From the three best teachers I know.

I'm applying to:
UPenn CAS (Early Decision)
Harvard College
Cornell CAS
NYU CAS
NYU - Abu Dhabi Campus
Lafayette College
Lehigh College of Business and Economics
Rutgers
PennState

Bbbuuuuuuummmmmmmmpppppppp

-Raised thousands of dollars through school functions to give to local charities

Did you do that personally? If so that’s easily your best accomplishment, but otherwise I don’t think you have a very good shot at Harvard, Upenn or Cornell, but it never hurts to try!

BTW. I’m also assuming the band awards are for the entire band and are not individual awards, otherwise you have a great shot everywhere.

I don’t have much experience from the other colleges because I’m from the south but good luck!

I’ll just let the colleges do the interpreting… :P

But in all seriousness, they were all group awards, but how does that not make them special? Do you know how hard it is to score the highest score in history out of a circuit with over 1,000 other bands?

I don’t see the Penn/Harvard/Cornell but I see acceptance into the others

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1189548-please-chance-bad-freshman-year-duke-nd.html

Shameless bump for a possible more optimistic opinion? :P

I think you will get in to all of those. But if I could choose I would go to NYU CAS. I know many valedictorians who got rejected.

you have a good shot at all of the non-ivy’s. most of them will cross you off instantly if you have a see or anything less than a 700 on any of the SAT’s or SAT II’s

@goodManThinking Haha…I’m not entirely sure if you’re being sarcastic or not, but um, thanks?

And just another question: Let’s say what you all say is true and I get rejected from every Ivy League. Would I have a chance for Harvard Law even if I only went to NYU or Lafayette?

@ambiguouswalrus The woman at UPenn’s Information Session said as long as you get a 650+ on each of your SAT Subjects they don’t care…was she lying?

Haha sorry I meant most of the IVY’s will cross you off. All of the non-ivys you have a great shot at! And grad school has nothing to do with undergrad at all! If you goto any school and graduate w/ a high GPA, you will have a good shot at harvard law. NYU is almost IVY league, and lafayette and penn state are great schools. You have a better shot at law school with a high GPA from a not so big name school than someone with a low GPA from an ivy

Stress your math ability.

Your Math SAT is obviously impressive.

There are probably engineering/science type schools where this will be super attractive for them.

UPenn is an Ivy League ambiguouswalrus…and I was told they do not care about SAT Subject scores as long as they are over 650…

@floridadad55 I do not want to apply to engineering/science schools because 1. I did poorly in science in school 2. I do not have any ECs relating to it 3. I really do not want to major in anything within the field…

Byumpbyump

One last bump and then I’ll stop making chance threads until I retake the SATs…
