Chance Me for ALL My Colleges! (Will try to chance back!)

Feel free to rip me a new one, some criticism isn't too bad. Anyways, some schools I applied under Questbridge's Regular Decision Forwarding for the heck of it (didn't think I'd be a Finalist), and I don't think I'll get in to any of those. Otherwise, I'm really hoping to be admitted into UC: Berkeley, but I understand it's a reach considering my SAT scores and being an OOS, but I can dream! And I apologize for making such a long laundry list and almost spelling out every word. It's my habit to be official, organized, and structured. If you don't feel like leaving a detailed comment, it's fine by me if you just say where I stand for each one (high reach, reach, low reach, high match, etc.)!

[] State: GA
[] Country: USA
[] School Type: Small (323 students), Private, All-Boys, Military, Religious (Roman Catholic)
[] School Profile: It's a traditional school considering it's been around since 1902. Just recently have academics really taken off; my class was the first one to be put on the school's new curriculum, and we're one of the best classes to graduate. And so, a lot of my classmates and I are deciding to apply to top tier colleges and universities to bring in some good reputation for our school (we have two admitted Early Action into MIT and University of Notre Dame). We're not exactly the best school, academically, within the area, but we're definitely getting up there and competing really well against other schools. We definitely have an interesting environment. JROTC is a tradition around here (number one within our region) and we're require to take it for two years. I chose to stay in the program after my two years. Religion is also a required course for every student. We're not so ethnically diverse though (so I'm one of the few unique minorities around). Lastly, we only have ten AP courses being offered. Two of them (AP Human Geography & AP Chemistry) are new this year, and I was not able to take them due to schedule conflicts. Regardless, I have the most APs ever taken by any student in my school.

General Comments: If you guys need any clarification on something or questions, go ahead and ask and I will clarify. I can go into a little bit more detail on some things (like my extracurriculars) if you guys need me to. I can even send you my essays, which I'm confident about most of them, for a little review.

@gman333 @SurvivorFan
I’ve chanced both of you! Thanks for looking at my thread!

I shamelessly bump this thread.

Bumping once again.

While the UCB may seem like a reach, I’m pretty sure that they put a much bigger emphasis on academic record than standardized test scores, so it can be considered a low reach, maybe even a high match. Your’e looking good for the other UC’s. Ivies are different though, since they are seriously selective and put a huge emphasis on both. Same goes for Stanford. I’d consider them to be mid-high reaches (except for Penn, which could be a low reach). Emory, Vanderbilt, Rice, Notre Dame, USC, W&LU, and Tufts all range from mid-high matches. But hey, you’re likely to get into at least one of those awesome universities you’re applying to, since you have some great awards and EC’s. So yeah…go for it. Best of luck, and thanks for chancing me :)

@ramzee
Thanks for chancing me back and for the positive reinforcement! And no problem!

Thanks! And good luck to you next year!

Thanks, you too!

I’m not familiar with the art of chancing, so I’m sorry. Anyways, we’re similar in the way how we like our stuff structured. I’m also Viet as well. Haha, sorry for being off topic. I think your SAT and ACT are weak. Your academics are strong, and so are your ECs. However, try to narrow your ECs when applying. Padding can hurt your chances.

@TommyD36
Hahaha! I actually already applied, and I just wanted to see what people thought, because I didn’t get very proactive with this site until recently. I did narrow down my ECs to the most unique ones and the ones that I contributed the most in. And I know… My test scores are weak; they always have been, unfortunately! But I explained it in my app. But thanks for checking out my thread and commenting!

And yes! My Vietnamese immigrant parents (so I grew up under traditional disciplines) drilled organization and structure into me! It’s a good habit though! Sometimes…

Daily Bump.

My parents aren’t like the typical Asian parents. They’re not the stereotypical Asian parents you see on TV (thank goodness!) They are lenient towards me because I have good grades and know what my priorities are, but a 99 will result in my mom being temporarily disappointed. I’m not saying you are any less; I’m sure we both work just as hard.

But yeah, comment back with your results. I’m looking forward to it. I wish you the best! @AsianAlly

ucs- mid to high reach

Stanford, Princeton, Yale, UPenn, Notre dame- Reach which is good since their great schools

Emory, USC, Tufts, Vandy, Rice, Washinton, Pepperdine, Uga- High Reach

You are definetly going places dude

The only thing i see that could hurt you is your test scores which are a little on the low side for some of those schools. besides that, i think you have a good chance at a lot of the UCs but the rest are all low-mid reaches.
