I am currently a senior in high school and will be applying to CS to all UCs except Merced and riverside.

Capped UC GPA is 3.83

Weighted GPA sophmore year 4.5, UW 3.9 WGPA junior year 4.0, UW 3.4 (is this downward trend going to affect my application ? )

ACT composite 28

new sat 1240

Classes : AP Chem, Ap Calc BC, Apush, AP world history, Honors Chem, Spanish 3 honors, AP Lang and composition, AP Stats, APCS, honors analysis

AP scores, all of them were in the 3-5 range except for English (non native speaker) where I got a 2.

EC: wrestler JV 2 years, Varsity 1 year

Treasurer of MEChA Club interact club for 1 year

health and fitness club president for a semester(old president got sick) - I hosted workouts and ran events

No volunteer hours because I did not know we had to fill out a paper for the hours to be official:(

I finished my applications and I’m just working on my personal statement now, I’m just stressed out because my parents said they wouldn’t support me unless I go to a 4 year. Thanks for reading !

UCD/UCSB: Low Reach

Downward GPA trend will definitely have an impact especially if you are trying for CS. Your SAT/ACT test scores need to be bumped up into the 1350+/30+ range, but since UC’s are GPA focused your below average GPA will make most of the UC’s a tough admit even with better test scores.

You do not have to go to a UC for a great CS education. Take a look at SDSU/CSU Long Beach/Cal Poly Pomona and possibly SJSU (I would apply for Software Engineering here). Definitely add UCR and UCM to your list if your parents will not consider a Cal state.
