What…

Amherst accepts applications for first year from college students :)

I hope you have a safety at home…

@Catria what?

your GPA, extracurriculars, and background in diverse education are all very strong and will be compelling for amherst. on the other hand, your SAT may be too low. i think if you have strong essays and recommendations, you will have a chance!

NOTE: I have recommendations from instructors at my previous college. One is from my Organic Chemistry II professor in whose class I got an A, and the other one is from my Physics I professor, in whose class I also got an A. I would say they both wrote ok on my behalf, so I don’t think this part of my application will stand out.

Your ACT is somewhat below average, but you definitely make up for it with the rest of your application. I looked at Amherst’s transfer acceptance rate on college prowler, and it seemed rather low. However, you are coming from a very good school with a high GPA. If your recommendations/essays are good I would say you have a pretty good chance of getting in! Good luck!
@avogadro6022, I am applying as a first-year and the GPA is my HS GPA. Amherst accepts first-year applications from college students.

Have you thought about taking the SAT to compare to your ACT scores? You did very well on the subject tests, so you just might not be an ACT person.

@avogadro6022, as I mentioned, I got like 3 hours of sleep, which really slowed me down during the test. I did 34 on math simply because I can do well on math even if I don’t get sleep at all. Unfortunately, I couldn’t sit for another ACT because the one I took was in December 2013.

buuuump

bump. decisions will be released this friday. will post the result here.
