<p>your GPA, extracurriculars, and background in diverse education are all very strong and will be compelling for amherst. on the other hand, your SAT may be too low. i think if you have strong essays and recommendations, you will have a chance!</p>
<p>NOTE: I have recommendations from instructors at my previous college. One is from my Organic Chemistry II professor in whose class I got an A, and the other one is from my Physics I professor, in whose class I also got an A. I would say they both wrote ok on my behalf, so I don’t think this part of my application will stand out.</p>
<p>Have you thought about taking the SAT to compare to your ACT scores? You did very well on the subject tests, so you just might not be an ACT person.</p>
<p>@avogadro6022, as I mentioned, I got like 3 hours of sleep, which really slowed me down during the test. I did 34 on math simply because I can do well on math even if I don’t get sleep at all. Unfortunately, I couldn’t sit for another ACT because the one I took was in December 2013. </p>
