and if financial stuff matters (as I know a lot of the colleges I'm applying to are need-blind, hence they don't look at your income/etc):
-$1,000,000+ (My dad makes around $40,000,000/yr)

Honestly, my chances are kinda bleak cuz my GPA isn't that great, but I'm hoping my extra curricular activities will pull me through... I'm very focused on what I do, and I hope the colleges I'm applying to can see that through my essay/interviews! Penn is by far my #1 choice, I'm not even gonna bother applying to Harvard b/c I probably won't get in, and my #2 choice is Northwestern. GOOOODDD I love it there... it's so nice. (:
If I don't get into any of those, my back up is Carleton or Haverford or NYU (for tennis)
but I'm debating, because I can either throw an early to Penn and take my chances of getting in, or I can early to Carleton, Haverford, or NYU (because I HAVE to for recruiting), and have a 100% chance of getting in, or a high chance, because I know they are DivIII colleges...
PLEASE LET ME KNOW!
And I'm sorry if I came off as pretentious or what not, because that's definitely not how I want people to see me (even though you probably won't ever meet me), but I hate it when people act super pretentious online, etc... so again, I don't wanna come off as that type of person!

your dad makes that kind of money and you attend a public school?

If you do well on your APs you should be able to do ED. However, if you take more subject tests, and do well, it should help since colleges don’t always consider the APs but do consider SAT IIs.

Come back with scores in July and you can get better feedback.

can I have a million dollars just tell your dad to give a years salary to harvard and your in… what a joke why are u concerned

Yea… lol I got into a few private schools in my area, but my dad and I had this huge argument about sending me to private school, because I didn’t really want to go… I thought that if I went to private school, I’d become some nerdy preppy kid and all… I kinda regret it now, seeing as how I made it into a school with a 35% ivy matriculation. I didn’t really care at the time, but that’s all in the past lol… I mean a ton of people at my school are loaded… the best student car I’ve seen parked around is a lambo, and beamers/mercedes/audis are pretty common. LOL

The thing is though, I’d prefer to get in based off my own merits… my dad has hooked me up way too much w/ getting internships/opportunities and all that, and I don’t wanna live off him, because I know I’m gonna eventually be off on my own lol

Your stats, testing, and ECs all look good. Definitely apply ED for an added boost.

Yea… I’m not as solid as you, I’m sorry LOL. But I would definitely take Penn or Yale if I got into those colleges (which I’m sure you probably will)

Bump (: anyone? Thanks…

Thanks for chancing me
I would go for Harvard - your GPA is just a bit below what they would expect, but you more than make up for it through your SATs and ECs.

I would say you have around a 80%+ chance of making it in all those schools.

Are you applying to Wharton, CAS, huntsman…?

Either Wharton or for their East Asian Studies program… I’m not entirely sure.
And FarhadY, I wouldn’t want to go to Harvard… everyone there would probably be a lot better than me, so :/

Your ECs are pretty legit, so you’re very solid. If you score that well on the SAT, you’ll be in a great position, and I’d bet you’d get into Penn early. Yes, your GPA is a bit below what is expected at the very top schools, so HYPSM would probably be a stretch (although you never know). But at schools just below the level of HYPSM, like Penn and NW, you’re on target because of your impressive ECs. Good luck!

You’re in…

Awesome ECs, impressive APs (although colleges don’t care about APs that much, but it’s still impressive.) Your grades could be a bit higher, but I’d say that if you score really well on the SAT, you’re into Penn. Good luck!

Thanks a lot guys… Yea SATs are such a drag, I hate them so much… I’m a terrible multiple choice test taker, but hopefully Penn can see that I love everything about them… Even if I got into HPYS, I’d choose Penn over then or any other school :/

You’re ECs are really good, you definitely have a solid chance at Wharton, especially with ED.

Thanks a ton, and the only downside to applying early is that your 1st semester SR. year doesn’t play a factor into the admissions process, so I have no chance of getting that GPA up other than getting a 5.0 this semester! So my GPA remains hahaha

bdump bump

if you have grades from like the first half of the semester or something(I’m not sure how your school works, I run on a two semester schedule of 4 periods), you can still send them.

We run based off two semesters, but they don’t look at your first semester for early decision apps, because the responses come before our semester ends (around the end of Jan), so they just ask for the courses you’re taking.

I had all these great ideas, then I was so shocked by the income I forgot it all.

I can’t even…

Oh yeah, 219 most likely won’t be NM. Not that you need it… I hear ya on the 68 thing though, I also got 3 wrong and a 68, lol.

There was something else. Maybe I’ll remember it later.
