Chance me for an early to UPenn 2012-2013

you have a lot of of EC’s and that’s good but make it seem like you’re really passinoate about the things you do. I think you could get into UPenn or Vanderbilt

TBH you have so many ECs - not that that’s a bad thing

Just tell your dad to donate to UPenn…it usually works (not kidding…why do you think a lot of rich people get into Ivies? They’re smart and their parents donate which is a plus).

It’s a prestige thing…rich person goes to UPenn…more attention and prestige for that university.

I haven’t posted on this forum since senior year of high school, which is about three years ago, but I stumbled upon this thread and wanted to make a contribution. I don’t care what anyone else says; if you check off the Latino/Hispanic box on your college apps, I would be EXTREMELY surprised if you get rejected from any of the schools you’re applying to. I have URM peers that got into my school with way less impressive stats as you have (disclaimer: I go to a top Ivy). And if you choose to check off Asian/Asian-American, your chances would still be pretty good.

TheGirlsLoveMe: I don’t know if you’ll happen to stumble upon this again, just because your join date is 2006, but it’s worth a shot I guess…
Am I allowed to check off Latino/Hispanic if my heritage is Asian/Asian-American? I’ve talked with a ton of people about it, and the thing is that I have my US Citizenship now, so I’m thinking about how I’d do this…

McKnight95: I’m really passionate about most of the things I do, that’s why I dedicate so much time and effort to all of my ECs… Tennis I genuinely love (but competitive tennis gets into your head sometimes…), I LOVEE dancing, filming, and producing/rapping, and this might sound kinda geeky, but I love math competitions (although I HATE math itself… kinda strange how it is, but if you ever enter a math comp., you’ll see). The Red Cross Organization is something that my brother carried down to me, and I integrated it with the club that I have a passion for: Thirst Project… I guess what I mean to say is that even though it may seem like I’m all over the place, I spend a ton of time with what I do, and I do it with a passion. I’m honestly considering taking that Vanderbilt EA out though, because I’ve heard that student life at Vandy is kinda bad… idk though, what do you think?

eXaOmega: We’ll see how it goes… I honestly don’t want to burn out a million dollars just to get into UPenn, but I’d like to see where I can get in based off my merits… I mean I’ve been actively conversing with the Carleton Coach for tennis, and somewhat with the Pomona coach, so we’ll see how that turns out… I mean if I can go to Carleton or Pomona and end up playing tennis, I’d enjoy my time, not have to burn so much money, and still have a top notch education… All of this stuff is really getting into my head, and I’m stressing out like crazy. I guess it’s not a bad thing that I do have a few options, but then again, the decision-making part is killing me…
I mean if Penn doesn’t want me for me, then I don’t feel the necessity to bribe my way through the admissions you know? hahaha
I honestly don’t know what to do -____-

You should consider the Huntsman program that Penn/Wharton offers. I think you’d be a great fit and it’s incredibly prestigious

I just checked it out, and it seems pretty awesome… regional studies AND business… WOW. That’s hitting two birds w/ one stone (excuse me for the cheesy analogy) LOL.
I think I will…

Are you sure Penn is the best school for East Asian studies? Wouldn’t Harvard, Princeton, Georgetown or Middlebury be better?

Not Georgetown, Princeton and Harvard would probably be, but I know I’m not getting into them, so I’m not even gonna bother applying…
I don’t like Middlebury (just because of a few factors), so I haven’t really considered it.

Bump, with everything almost in, here’s an update!
Finally took those SAT IIs in Math II and USH. 800s on both (although I’m a bit surprised about the USH…)

Took my APs, thought I did decent on them, so we’ll see when those come out, and I’ve been super relaxed now that senior year awaits (:

Also received an update, and I’m approximately top 5% or so of my class, so that’s accurate.

BUMP. This is kinda old, but here’s how I finished off the year, and my summer standings (:

5.0 GPA to finish off the year, and I did a call in for my AP scores:
AP Calc BC: 5 AB Subscore: 5
AP USH: 5
AP Statistics: 5
AP Microeconomics: 5
AP Macroeconomics: 4
AP English Language: 4
AP English Lit: 5
AP Environmental Science: 4 (***?!?!?)
AP Physics C Mech: 4

I have a summer internship at the moment, and I participated in the R16 North America dance championships… I also got to choreo for Lenny Kravitz in one of his music videos, and I’m gonna be participating in the Bboy Summit Championships for 2012, so hopefully I do well there!

I’m gonna retake both in November I guess, the last date for any SAT exam before early decision deadlines…

Can someone update my chances?

And if someone could also update my chances, I wanna know if these are matches/reaches for me:

Georgetown
Northwestern
Notre Dame
USC
Stanford
Columbia
MIT

Not National merit semifinalist D:. Prolly commended, cut off for caly was a 221. Probably not at wharton but sure at the other schools. Just donate 10 mill to wharton and ur in. XD

Hm… maybe I should train my ass off in tennis then and just try to get recruited by the Penn coach LOL.
I’ve been semi talking with the Georgetown coach, and they’re at a similar level, so I’m actually getting pretty close!
We’ll see by the end of the summer though I hope…
and yea, I know, I messed up big time in writing… I got a 68 in writing or something, because I missed 3 questions… wthhh

If you donate a library or a statue, you’re definitely in no contest haha. Nice stats though. Your parents should be well connected enough to get you in if you still feel like you have any problems. Great ECs also! Most schools shouldn’t be a challenge. If you have time, chance me!
