Hello, I am going to apply for grade ten 2012-2013 probably at Andover and Exeter. What are my chances?

Straight A final report card for grade 7 and 8.
Been in French Immersion since grade 1 where Math, Science, Social Studies and Tech are in French, plus a French language arts class. This makes me nervous about having all of these classes in English; though my first language is English, I am fluent in French and have learnt everything in it my whole life.
Am active in my schools youth group and have gone to a youth convention like thing where I was a facilitator in French.
Got 7th in my districts' math competion at a university.
Placed 2one twice and last year got 1st in my districts' French speech competition.
Won 1st in History and Science Fairs.
Best Subject is Math, Favorite Subject is English, aspire to be a writer.
Am in drama club, on the Soccer and Badminton Teams (won 3rd in doubles badminton districts) and I am treasurer and have been doing the daily announcements for a year now.
I have been in a tap, jazz, hip-hop and ballet class for 4 years now, and I am auditioning for the DanceCompetitive this year.
My teachers all like me, and I am a good artist and am an ok athlete.

Thanks so much!

Oh and I swim a lot and I am lifeguard certified.

Well, to me you sound pretty cool and a good candidate. On academics you seem very covered, also knowing French is going to give you a pretty big boost. If anything, I have trouble reading your list of achievements, and if you listed them out a little bit more so I could say more, but overall I think it looks great. Maybe a little more focus on an EC or a community service thing that you are passionate about and then add more detail. That way, it seems like you really love to do instead of you are just doing to do it.

I personally your list of achievements is awesome, and I hope to see you at exeter for I am applying too gulp and I am going through the same worries.

That is my advise, and I hope it helps!

Well, I think you stand great chances. I wouldn’t know for sure, though, since I’m applying there myself … I mean, the French thing is big, and if you really like writing you should be able to write good essays. And your teachers like you, so you get good recommendations. You’re well-rounded, so far as I can see.

If you swim a lot, does this mean you’ll be interested in doing the swim team? If so, contact the coaches and schedual an appointment. The andover coach wrote me a letter of reconmondation to admissions, which really helped. Andover and exeter are PHENOMINAL at swimming and are always looking for new swimmers.

i work in admissions at exeter-student tour guide/office assistant.

you have as good a shot as anyone! really impressive stuff. just make sure you go on campus tours, demonstrate interest, and work on those essays. also, ssat over 85% would be good.

also, really think about how you would answer the question “why do i want to go to exeter?” <–or andover-but we dont like them
