thanks for the reply exeterrr
other than that how does it look?

Looks like You are a strong candidate except for the fact that You are Asian. Not to be racist AT ALL but their are a large amount of Asians from China, Korea, and even Japan that are applying to Exeter/Andover, and that number is increasing from Year to Year, I believe. You might be one of the few to get accepted though, You look like a good candidate throughout!

No offense, but really???

“Other: Im currently 3rd in Mathcounts team, and my math coach and math recommender is massachusetts national mathcounts team coach for past 7 years and past PEA teacher”

Massachusetts NATIONAL Matchcounts Team…

That does not make sense… :P

Honestly though, you like like a really strong candidate. Good luck to you.

You’re very well rounded but the problem is, sad but true, is that your asian. Many asian families apply to prestigious boarding schools so there is an overabundance. If you were African American or Hispanic your chances would increase GREATLY because those minorities are underrepresented. It sucks it has to be that way be it’s true :(

BUT if we both get accepted into our desired schools, I’ll be your first friend there if we go to the same one :D

wouldnt that be awesome??
and btw how do u think andover and exeter would be nice fits for me?
i think its coz they have allow for students to try new things and i like trying new things…? idk
plz reply

If you are willing to be open minded and try new things they would be perfect fits for you. You also have to show that you’re tolerant of other peoples differences, being that Andover and Exeter are the slightly more liberal boarding schools

You should know, although, that Exeter teaches math by Harkness as well, which is uncommon, and i have heard of people with a passion for math become frustrated by this. It fits me, but it depends on You. Think that through! By the way, can You chance me on my profile?- Chance Me For Exeter (Final Version)

Thanks!

I’m also applying for Exeter and Andover as well as Deerfield and some other schools for 9th grade. I might also add that I’m Korean as well. Maybe if we both get accepted, we can be great friends. I love math as well and I’ll be taking AP Calculus BC exam next May. Funny how I was also in the MATHCOUNTS (I participated in the State round) and I also play violin. I was in all district honors for 5th, 6th, 7th grade (this year is yet to be auditioned) ever since 2 months into playing violin and I was in all-southern california honors orchestra in 7th and this year. This is my fourth year of play violin though, having started in 5th grade. I swim and play lacrosse. I also love creative writing (I, in fact, wrote couple books and lots of original stories, fan-fictions, etc.)! I hope we both get accepted!

Hey, are you sending in recordings of two contrasting pieces to Andover? I am planning on sending in Lalo violin concerto and Bach Sonata #1.

You don’t do enough math.

But being serious I think you have a good chance even though you are asian. I feel like most asians applying would have near perfect grades and SSAT scores but would not be very well rounded other than maybe music. Other than your SSAT score being a little low for an asian (not being racist), I think you’re more well-rounded than the average asian applicant.

@trestre65,
Nice mile time! Do you run the 5k?

this guy has a really good chance. he’s unique and he’s been around. you’ll be accepted. i bet $100 that you will.

^been around?

read OP… ending lines for “Hook”

I believe that even if You are experienced, SnapePotter, You cannot know for sure if he will be accepted. Keep in mind, also, that not all applicants have stats like the “populace” of CC. You might want to get a first-Hand account of someone who has been accepted to Exeter to look over one’s resume, which is the best someone applying can do. Moreover, I believe that if an applicant has a STRONG application but EC’s that are Mediocre (Not Lacking) Can be accepted, but then again, what do I know? What do applicants know, too?

My D is an upper at Exeter. I think you have a decent chance. Make sure you have SET write you a letter of recommendation for the schools. D had letters of recommendation from SET and from an organization for PG kids (not post-graduate).

I’m betting. which means that i need my beliefs to be confirmed.
You’ll find an abundance of last year’s Exeter/Andover chance threads on this forum. You’ll notice that you’ll most likely agree with me on this one’s fortunes.
