Chance me for anxious applicant

GPA - w vs uw 2.8/2.6 (I had a bad junior year)
SAT I 1380/2090
SAT II Math I-630 Bio-590 Lit-680
Good ECs and part time job
in state
SAS bio major

Rough GPA but the SATs make up for it a bit… Try as hard as you can for all A’s your senior year!

SAS does like to see a 3.0, but people have gotten in with less…work hard and don’t let it drop anymore. I agree to try for all A’s this year, it’s good to show improvement.

The GPA is a little sketchy but your SATs make up for it.
I think you should retake the Bio SATII, its doesn’t look good that
you got that score when you’re majoring in Biology o_o.

Rutgers doesnt require SAT 2 subject tests,no need to retake!

Rutgers doesnt care about ECs, subject 2 tests, or part time jobs. Its pretty much just SAT and GPA. I don’t know if you can get into New Brunswick though definitely you’ll get into Newark.

im thinking of sending in a letter of rec. explaining that my rough junior yr was due to the fact that i had to transition from small private school environment to a public school more than ten times the size of the private one. do you think that would increase my chances?

Rutgers does not need recommendations. Maybe in your essay you can build around that?

As opposed to saying why you had poor grades, why dont you explain how you turned it around? A college will not look at an applicant and say “oh thats why his grades slipped” because they do not know if it will happen again. Make them believe that you turned your academic career around and your chances will be greater!

This is coming from a student who had a 2.2 GPA in hs with SATS in low 500’s. Just got into Rutgers for Spring!

I can’t really change the essay because I sent it in a couple of months ago :-(

Essay doesn’t count towards admissions (so I’ve heard) it only counts for scholarships…
