Chance me for AU!

Hi I plan on applying to American University early decision or regular decision. I have not yet decided. I want to go to SIS and major in international affairs and French or Russian. Can you chance me?

GPA unweighted: 3.85
Weighted: 4.34

My school is not one of the highest ranked.

I will have taking 6 AP Classes in high school and 7 Honors.
btw I’m a white male.

Chance threads belong on the Chances Forum, but are a waste of your time anyway. If you want some useful information, look at AU’s 2012-2013 Academic Data Reference Book, which you can search for on the AU website. It has the facts about the credentials of students who were actually admitted. You can compare yourself to them and do your own chancing.

totally agree. chance forums are totally worthless.

bump bumpp

Really? Bump?

OK…I also think chance threads are kind of useless, and I also think the best way for you to estimate your own chances for being admitted to American are to read the 2012-2013 Academic Data Reference Book. I’ll even provide a link for you: http://www.american.edu/provost/oira/upload/ADRB-2012-13-web-version.pdf.

Oh good grief of course u will get in Am has a 40% admit rate! The only question is how much cash u get

MitchKreyben - American may have a 40% admit rate but that makes 60% that do not get in. It is also not the bottom 60% that don’t get in. If you check the posts from last April, there were many applicants who could not understand why they were waitlisted with their high scores. Perhaps AU was yield protecting guessing that these students were using AU as a safety school. However, AU does accept many high ranking students. AU counts interest when making their decisions so they can figure out who is using the school as a safety. On another note, the year my DD was accepted, a high school classmate was waitlisted. She truly was interested and had pretty high scores. You never know what the admissions staff is looking for so no one should be too confident about any school.

I agree with NewJerseyMom. If you are really interested in AU, show them. Visit, email, call and attend AU meet & greets if one is near you. If you are 100% sure that it is your #1 choice and FA is not a deal breaker, apply Early Decision and you are a shoe in. But you must be 100% sure.
