Essay: VERY strong so far. About a family struggle I dealt with in my childhood and how it has shaped me and how the clashing cultures and religions I was brought in has led me to be involved in many clubs and activities centered around peace, culture, and education and my dream of being a child psychologist in Palestine.

Will be sending in my art portfolio as an Art Supplement, as well.

What do you guys think my chances are? Thanks!

ALSO if you can help with any financial advice as to whether I should do ED or how much money I could get if accepted:
my family income is 42,000 and our EFC is about 800 OR 900 I believe. Single parent family

Are you talking about applying this year? The ED deadline has passed, so you can only apply RD for the coming year – since you want Barnard to see your first semester grades and want to bring up your test scores, you are better off in the RD round in any casee.

Your EC’s are wonderful and I think that Barnard is realistic for you - it is reach because of your GPA and test scores, but you sound like the type of person that Barnard wants as part of its student body – so you are going to do very well on the holistic end of things. So you definitely have a reasonable chance of admission, strong enough to warrant an application.

Barnard requires detailed financial information, including tax returns, from the noncustodial parent – so you cannot expect Barnard to meet your EFC unless the NCP is completely out of the picture. (As in: deceased, destitute, or unable to be found – not merely someone who is unwilling to pay)
