<p>Chance me at Barnard College or Carnegie Mellon University.</p>

<p>High school senior at a competitive public high school in California. It's a Blue Ribbon school and a California Distinguished School. (Usually within top 50 schools in CA)</p>

<p>Academic GPA:
Weighted - 3.79
Nonweighted - 3.55</p>

<p>Total GPA:
Weighted - 3.80
Nonweighted - 3.57</p>

<p>10-12 GPA:
Weighted - 3.83
Nonweighted - 3.48</p>

<p>-Hardest possible courseload (Including Calculus AB)
-No ranking system at school, but assume top 15%-ish. GPA's not very high for my school... I think the highest total GPA in the class of 2011 is 4.3.
-Am in top 1% in some of my classes</p>

<p>SAT: 2110 (First time) // V: 630, M: 680, W: 800
-Retook it in October (Second time)... Results have yet to come</p>

-Newspaper: 3 yrs (Editorships for three yearsr)
-Writing club: 3 yrs (Board positions all three years)
-Private tutoring for writing
-Amnesty Int: 4 yrs
-100 hrs of community service
-Passed Level 10 CM for piano
-Mock Trial: 2 yrs (One year: Outstanding Clerk)
-Editor of literary magazine</p>

<p>Awards:
-1st place for county-wide writing contest (2008-2010)
-Scholastic Art and Writing Awards: Gold Key (2010), advanced to national competition
-1st place courtroom journalist</p>

<p>There are others, but I guess they're not as significant to note. I'd consider myself a good writer, so assume good essays. Getting recs from two teachers who know me well + a supplementary letter from a U Chicago professor who knows me well. I'm probably also going to submit a writing portfolio for Barnard. (Is that a good idea?)</p>

<p>Please help! Thank you! If you're a Barnard student, please provide some input. I'd really appreciate it.</p>

<p>Btw: No legacy. (Personally I think it's super unfair for schools to factor legacy into admissions...)</p>
