Dear yankeefan0022 : Given your board scores, this is a stretch school with elements that match your background. By no means should you view Boston College as a safety school. Safety at BC would include 2100+ three way SAT scores, 32+ ACT scores, a sure top 10% performance with a strong AP curriculum backing up a committed extra currciular program. Then, there are the essays and recommendations which say even more about you as a person and your potential ability to contribute to the Boston College community.

Your sports background does not provide much detail on your achievements or length of service. Your extra curricular section seems a bit narrow in scope and does not provide any indication as to the amount of time that these activities might require. (In essence, it looks like a list of “stuff” without clear indication of why these elements are important in understanding you as a potential student.)

Your community service is interesting and varied and might supply some interesting essay material.

Something to consider : while your background and oneal32’s background are similar, you can see that there are many tens of thousands of applications that can look similar. You have to think how you will differentiate yourself from the pack.

Again, BC is a stretch for you - what can you do to try and close the gap based on this review? Good luck and keep us informed.

thank you for the detailed input!

yes, this school is on my stretch list as by no means did I consider it a safety. Also, on my college application I would explain more in detail about my sports and ECs and how much time I put into them. I just put them in list form so users like yourself could get an idea of what would be put on my application. Believe me, not one of these is a one week thing that I am just throwing on there and I have recds from political figures (most of my activites) to back that up.

I will do everything to stand out during the application process to BC - thanks for your concern and I will take your advice to heart! Greatly appreciated. :)
