Chance me for becoming a CPA

Hi all,

So due to mental health problems, addiction, and apathy toward school, I have absolutely wrecked my transcripts. I have 15 withdrawals. The classes I finished are mostly A’s. I’ve completed 1 year of college over 8 years. I’ve maintained a 3.2 GPA. It will be higher once I get a couple F’s off my transcript

I want to be a CPA. Knocked out a year of accounting no problem. Straight A’s. I seem to have a natural talent and enjoy it.

I’ve sobered up and fixed my issues, and I’m ready for college. Now my obstacles are grad school and getting on with a decent CPA firm. If they ask for my transcripts, they’ll ask about my inconsistencies and withdrawals. I’ll be pleading the fifth. No way I’m telling a neurotypical in a suit that I used to drink, do drugs, and frequently visit the psych ward. I will no doubt maintain an A average from here on out. I’ll have to let that speak for itself, I guess.

What are my chances?

You can’t change the past, but you have the grades to get into a decent graduate school. Keep doing what your doing and you’ll be fine. Graduate school holds a lot more weight than undergraduate. The CPA exam is tough, so you’ll really need to prepare for it.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? That may make you ineligible to sit for the CPA exam. Such cases are evaluated on an individual basis. And you will not be able “to plead the Fifth”.
