chance me for berkeley eecs!!! not average 2400 SAT student on CC

3.9 uw
4.2 w
took 3 ap's junior year and taking 4 senior ( 7 out of 9)

1890 SAT
710 chem
640 math 2 (retaking definitely over 660, expecting/ hoping 700)

nhs, recycling club, key club

I know that it is a reach right now. I am taking the ACT, what score would give me a good shot, i have 3 trys so i think i can.

also chance me for ucla, ucsd, and usc

bump
imma keep asking until i get answers
ahhahah

bump bump anybody please

Try to aim for a 31+ ACT and 2100+ SAT

thank you very much. What do you think of my chances at the other schools now and with a 31?

Try for L&S CS instead of CoE EECS. You have much better chances at getting into L&S than CoE

yes but having that major is a BA, and if i want a ****ty degree ill go to devrey
ahahahha
just kidding, put i dont want to go to berkeley unless it is for eecs, i know chances arent great unless you have a 2400 or 36, but yeaa…
hahah

but thank you for the input, u have gotten that idea a lot

The CS content between the two majors is identical. You should only pursue EECS if you have some level of interest in EE (and are willing to put up with all the extra physics courses EECS requires that aren’t of much use for CS)

EECS majors get much better recruitment, and i do have an interest in EE and a brother recently graduated to help me
haha

It would surprise me if you were accepted.

Need to get your scores up.

Reach / high reach.

That’s not exactly true.

Computer Science - https://career.berkeley.edu/Major/CompSci.stm</a>
Average Salary - $75,847

Employers include: Amazon.com, BAE Systems, BigFix, Cisco Systems Inc, Google Inc, Infomatica, Microsoft and National Instruments.

Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences - https://career.berkeley.edu/Major/EECS.stm</a>
Average Salary - 75,833

im not seeing it, especially for eecs.

ok point taken, do you think i could get into computer science letters and science?
If i wanted to could i transfer into EECS possibly?

OP, all of this makes me feel much better about what I said on your earlier chance thread. At least you know I wasn’t nuts! I think you would have a significantly better chance applying to letters and sciences. I don’t know how hard it is to transfer to EECS. I have read on the board that it is possible but very difficult.

SAT scores are gonna hurt your chances.

how would computer science BA from berkeley compare to a computer science BS from ucla or ucsd

There are very few employers who prefer the BS to a BA. The only one my professor has ever mentioned is the patent office.

On that note, it would be silly to choose UCLA or UCSD over Cal because you want a BS.

I feel like you’re a match for L&S CS here though, if that counts for anything.

thank you, my main fear for applying for a BA is that i feel that employers will favor a BS to a BA, but there is also the fact that your at Berkeley and that name alone carries a lot of prestige

Honestly, it depends how well you do. If you’re a talented CS major in L&S, you can get eaten up for top CS jobs. If you hate CS and want to do EE, you could try for a transfer, but you’d probably need top grades in Berkeley CS, which may not be easy.
