Look, honestly you have a good shot at almost any of these schools. I think the GPA is a little worrisome but you have a good reason and I think colleges will understand. If you get that SAT score up then I think you would have an even better chance. Your EC’s are good as well. But with the college process you never know, there was a girl from my school who got rejected by CIT but got into MIT. So you never know.

Chance me please.

Thanks so much, I appreciate it. Gotta make sure to iterate the reason behind my slacking grades. And ace the tests. Thanks again, I’ll chance yours right now!

Anyone else got ideas?

I would recommend going back and retaking the SAT to try to get a 2070+. Also, an exceptional essay would help your chances even more.

Tulane: Match
UT: Low Reach / High Match
Georgia Tech: Low Reach
UCLA: Low Reach
Rice: Reach
Cornell: Reach
Georgetown: Reach
Berkeley: High Reach
Duke: High Reach
Yale: High Reach
Columbia: High Reach
Stanford: Very High Reach
Caltech: Very High Reach

Mind Chancing Back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1512185-chances-will-chance-back-2.html

So say I get a 2100 or a 31-32 on the ACT, with stellar essays, (which I’m very confident in my ability, I’ve won awards for writing), some of these would become matches or low reaches? And I’ll chance back right now

Also what about your ideas of chance for USC and Penn State?

USC and Penn State should both be easy, easy matches

Awesome, I hope so

Let me put it this way-I’d take any of these over my safety’s. Do you think I’ll get rejected by all of these?

What do you mean by all of these?

All of the universities I posted here. I would take any one of them over my safeties. Of course there’s a specific order (1st. Stanford, 2nd. Berkeley, etc.)
I just don’t want to be rejected by all of them

What’s your order and I’ll tell you where a realistic good bet is

Stanford (would apply EA)

Yale

Berkeley

Duke

Cornell

Columbia

Georgetown

CalTech

Rice

UT

Georgia Tech

UCLA

USC

Tulane

I have safeties, so don’t criticize me for setting high goals. This is my list. #15 is Texas A&M and I am automatically accepted there.

Stanford (would apply EA): definitely a good shot still a reach though

Yale: reach

Berkeley: I like your chances a lot here

Duke: good shot still may be a reach

Cornell: I like your chances here

Columbia: high reach (not because of prestige, because it doesn’t suit you too well)

Georgetown: match

Caltech: high reach

Rice: match

UT: match

Georgia Tech: match

UCLA: match

USC: match

Tulane: tossup not a big engineering school so reach

I would be surprised if you slipped past 9, I think you have a real good shot with good essays going in the top 5

Wow thanks a lot. I’m trying not to be too optimistic but that sure sounds good. Thanks so much

Well you should be optimistic as long as you play out all your hooks and write stellar essays I would be very shocked not to see you make it in your top 5.

Wow well thanks that makes me feel better. I just don’t want to be rejected by all of them, that would really suck

By far your biggest thing is nailing the SAT, because if you do with your combination of things it would be hard to slip very far.

Gosh I hope so. I want to be realistic too

Even though my GPA is low, I should have a chance?
