My Credentials:

4.7 (Only High school classes)

can i get into oxford medical school

i dont know what the person above me is doing … but i need more chances

lol @ the person ^^. I think you can get into all three of those colleges (Berkeley>Swarthmore>Cornell), but you never know with ivies, there’s always a chance that you won’t get in. Being IS for Berkeley will help your chances greatly as well.

thanks… anyone else have any comments/ suggestions how to improve

If you chance me i will give you candy…

I think that you are fine for both Swarthmore and Berkley, but Cornell may be a reach for you. Overall good application I think. Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/898730-chances-duke-penn-cornell.html

Gracias, will chance back

I think you’re pretty much a low to mid match for Berkeley (idk much about Swarthmore :/) because about 60 people from my school matriculate to Berkeley each year (I know, ridiculous) and you have better stats than they do. I would say low reach for Cornell

thanks for the chance

Your stats are very strong but no one is a shoe in for any of these schools. Their admission rates go from 22 to 16%. Admission is highly competitive and many kids with incredible stats get rejected and waitlisted evey year. For Swarthmore it will make a great deal of difference if you can show them that you are a good ‘fit’. Visit, tour, interview, meet with faculty if at all possible. Saying “I want to go to Swarthmore because it is a highly ranked LAC” will not get you in. My son was admitted to swat with stats similar to yours. I’ll never know for certain but I think it was his essays that got him in. Make sure you have some safety schools to fall back on, both financial and academic. And good luck!

Kteh238:

Your probably good a berkely, Swathmore is likely and I don’t know about Ivies, their a bit wierd, but you appear to be at least a strong candidate.

Well done

thanks both of you…if anyone needs a chance back just post a link…
nursekay, i know what your saying. I want to go to Swarthmore and Berkeley for more than just the name. Berkeley b/c of the political dynamic and swarthmore because of the opportunities and relationships with teachers

You seem pretty strong, but be warned about Swarthmore, I’ve heard horror stories about the difficulty of that place :)

great stats! you should get into berkeley easily. I don’t know much about Swarthmore but Cornell will be a reach

I think right now, your GPA is excellent. Your SAT it wouldn’t hurt to retake, it may be pulling you down just a bit.

AS for your ECs, I think it lacks a focus that will jump out, which these days means that it’ll won’t help you which means it’ll probably hurt you a bit. Can you reorganize your ECs, add awards and clump subjects together as to have a clear focus?

Chance back pls

cornell, berkeley = high match, low reach

swarthmore – mid high match (since your GPA fits with their high GPA requirement) but your SAT scores…
