Essays are looking good. I have some decent reviews already.
Counselor Rec/Teacher Recs will probably be OK at best. The counselor doesn't know anyone that well because the school is way too big. The teacher likes me -- I think.

Activities:
Loads of volunteering hours inside and outside of school
Tutor/web designer/founding member/CTO for computer science/tutoring non profit
Published App Developer on Android Market
Varsity Sport Player 2 years
Some freelance work experience as an online advertiser/internet marketer. Made some money that I put towards school and summer classes. ( I ended up getting a B in the summer class because it was too fast. Also, I spent a lot of time doing the internet work during the summer so that I could pay for the summer class ~$500 which sort of took up my studying time. I might mention that in my EC essay for UC's)
News Site owner - I write articles and publish them and we get some views . I'm also the web designer

Low GPA/ Easy Rigor :(
Hoping essays will carry me.

I think you definitely have a good chance at all of these schools, maybe not so much Berkeley, but I still wouldn’t be surprised if you got in. Up play your app development, freelance work, and website. Good luck!

I believe your ECs are definite attracting factors. App development, freelance work, and website are stuff you won’t see too often so I think colleges will be interested in that. So that will set you apart.

Berkeley - Low Reach (Simply because it is competitive, but you would be surprised. My friend got rejected from UCI but accepted to Berkeley. So stay positive!)
UCLA - High Match
UCSD/Wash U - Match

Thanks guys! Seoul, you might be confusing Wash U with some other uni in Washington Haha. I definitely will mention my work when it comes to the extracurricular essay for UC’s

I think your GPA will be the main thing that holds you back, esp at Berkeley and LA. I think you’ll get into UCSD, but Berkeley and LA are gonna be low reach. WashU is probably a reach.

LOL yeah. I was waiting for that. It’s true, my GPA is fairly weak and that’s probably my fault for not caring as much. It’s mainly due to the summer class I took that went into my grade. I got a B over the summer and it was for two semesters so it ended up being two B’s. My grade would have probably been at 4.15 or 4.17 if it wasn’t there LOL. I plan mentioning this : “I ended up getting a B in the summer class because it was too fast. Also, I spent a lot of time doing the internet work during the summer so that I could pay for the summer class ~$500 which sort of took up my studying time. I might mention that in my EC essay for UC’s” on my app somewhere.

If I were you, I wouldn’t say it was too fast because college courses are also fast so it might make you seem unready for college classes. Just mention that you had to work too much to study enough and you’ll be fine.

@annamarin Good call Anna. I will definitely leave that out. I don’t know what I was thinking when I wrote that, probably cause it was late at night haha. Thank you though!

I would NOT say “I got a B in the summer class because it was too fast”, but rather “I got a B in summer class because I was concurrently working”, and even then… 2Bs don’t really matter. Your overall pattern of achievement is at A-level, so the two B’s won’t matter.
Your odds are rather good at UCB, UCLA, UCSD. Include another UC and Cal Poly SLO.
I also think your being low income/first gen may be a factor that could be in your favor at HarveyMudd, even if Mudd is a reach, so I’d ask for a fee waiver (if you don’t have one already) and apply.
Might you be interested in Olin? They “meet need” so it may be worth checking out just to see how much they’d offer in financial aid.
What are your matches? safeties?
By “Washington”, do you mean Wash-St Louis or UWA?
