What are my chances of getting into bioengineering? I would really appreciate a response.

Thanks!

Pitt evaluates by school not by major so this isn’t like JHU that controls for admission for bioengineering. Avg SATs in engineering around 700-710 so you seem like you have good chances

Pitt engineering doesn’t really work like that. As a freshman, you would be accepted into the general First Year Engineering program. In March of your first year, you choose a specific department. Your college GPA is what keeps you in the engineering program at that point, and as long as your academics meet requirements, you can choose Bioengineering.

Other than that, you probably have a good chance of getting accepted into Swanson (the engineering school).

Good luck!

umm, bioengineering really doesn’t work by paying tribe children in the Philippines, paved playground at local village school, so i would go into just a specific department if you were really stubborn you would go into bioengineering, you might have a difficult time. this really is to help you, I’m not trying to insult anybody but it might be hard.

Your community service is commendable and should show any admissions dept that you are well rounded and dedicated. Don’t listen to immature critics out for a cheap laugh.

@LeenaMaria i’m not sure how you interpreted my community service as “paying tribe children”, nor do i understand how that links to getting into Swanson, but thanks for your insight

@PittChemE2017 oh, I didn’t know that’s how the engineering programs worked at Pitt. thanks for the clarifying this, i really appreciate it!

@amandakayak will do  fingers crossed it’s enough to get accepted. thank you!
