Chance me for boarding schools????

Dear all perspective prep school applicants,
You are all great candidates and I wish you well for that March 10th date that can’t get her fast enough. I was hoping you could chance me on how my chances are for prep school. I am a ninth grader at the Rectory School which is a junior boarding school like Eaglebrook or Cardigan.
I am in the most advanced section in the school
I am a proctor on a dormitory
My SSATS the first time were a 85 in math, a 50 on reading, and a 78 vocabulary.
The second time I got a 46 on math, a 97 in reading, and an 86 in vocabulary.
My first term average grade was a 95.4 %
I did well in the interviews
I take Russian on the side of school
I do debate
I write for the student blog and newspaper
I have always had good grades that show in prior academic records and I used to practice acoustic guitar.
Best to all of you!

@crashk19: Please make your own thread for chancing. Thanks :)

sorry new to the website

No problem!

haha its alright everybody does that. they just need a little push in the right direction. any more chances?

They can’t not accept you, mmpqu2. If they do you should ask them why they passed up such a well rounded, gifted person. I wish my applications looked like yours.

StudentCellist- thanks! and I have seen your chance thread and I would like to say, even though I’ve already commented on the thread saying so, that I think you have a good chance of getting into those schools!

bump. anyone else?

One misconception about boarding school is that every student is phenomenal in some respect, whether academically, athletically, or through extracurriculars. This is not the case. The current Head of School at Andover Barbara Chase has said numerous times that Andover admits students who are highly gifted in a given area, and then the “glue” that holds the student body together, usually students who are intelligent, but not necessarily proficient in any specific area.

That being said, you would definitely be one of the “stand-outs” at Andover. As a current sophomore at Phillips, I can safely say that you have accomplished much more than some students at Andover will ever accomplish in high school. Congratulations on all of your hard work! It most definitely paid off.

If you have any questions about Andover, or if you continue to be torn between Andover and Exeter, please message me! I’d love to help.

cassat- thanks! i will definitely go to you if i need any help deciding!

I was just wondering what kind of school you attend: good/bad public/private? Because- not to sound bitter or anything- but I spent most of last year living in the counselor’s office trying to negotiate for high school courses, and no dice. Will you be applying for FA, also?

WOW… Like everyone else has said, any boarding school, whether Exeter or Andover would be lucky to come across an applicant like yourself. These boarding schools already see that you were a phenomenal student from the get-go with gold and silver keys in Scholastic Art and Writing Awards in middle school. You are already attending collage-level courses; you are athletic; you obviously have great leadership skills since you were class president; you are into community service; and you are still experimenting with sports in your free time-something that I cannot fathom you still have with a schedule like yours! Anyway, like everyone on this forum has basically implied: you are a shoe-in and in the end it will most likely be you choosing the school you want to go to rather than vice a versa. I wish you all the luck with your admission process, and even though I seriously doubt that this will happen: keep in mind that the most qualified (or over-qualified in your case) students might not be accepted to schools depending on what they are looking for that particular year or for other factors. I have seen straight A students from my prep school with 99 percentiles on their SSAT’s and pretty well rounded extra-curriculers be turned down by schools like these. Bottom line: I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you on March 10th!:)

P.S: Just curious, what do you want to be when you grow up? (sorry, you don’t have to answer if it is too personal) I primarily want to be an author (creative writing) and keep art as a life-long hobby/secondary career option. Also, could you please chance me? Thanks!:)
