I applied ED 2 to BU and wanted to know my chances:
applied to CAS as a chemistry major (considering a double major with political science)
hs gpa: UW 3.5, W 3.86
SAT: 1390 superscore
AP classes taken: AP world, AP lang, ap bio, ap calc (junior year), ap chem, ap lit, ap
comp gov, ap human geography, and post-ap biology
extracurriculars: 6 years of running track (pre-HS, and 4 years varsity), 1 season jv soccer, 3 year chemistry research project at a college nearby, ongoing internship at a software company (market research), volunteering/cleaning up at a major park in my city, 4.0 in a college psych class (taken at the college), co-president of my school’s democrats club, poll worker during the 2020 election
thank you so much!!! I’m so nervous about my decision, it’s less than 12 days away!
I would say you’ve got a good a chance as most. This year the competition is insanely high, a record 75000 applied to BU! If you get deferred and/or waitlisted don’t worry- I know a lot of students are over applying and they can all only pick one school. I have a feeling a lot of kids will get waitlisted and later accepted this year. That said, you should be proud of your accomplishments! Even through your post I can clearly tell that you are a talented athlete and hard worker.

Have you run the NPC or are you okay being full pay? BU was unaffordable for us many years ago with significantly higher stats.
According to Prepscholar BU has a 22% acceptance rate with average GPA somewhere between your weighted and unweighted GPA. This is also a weird year – there seems to be more applicants at some schools, possibly due to students who deferred a year ago. With this I would guess that it is a “reasonable reach”. By this I mean that it was reasonable to apply, but you might not get accepted.
Given the late date, I hope that you also have applications into at least two safeties.
We ran the NPC and it’s totally doable, but not full price. I already got accepted into one of my targets so I’m not super worried if I don’t get BU, I’ll just be disappointed. Thank you so much though!
