Chance me for Bowdoin ED??

Hi, clearly as you can see by my title im applying ED to bowdoin and i was wondering what my chances are (I know its a crapshoot but I'm just curious)

I go to a very rigorous high school and I've taken in total (including senior year) 4 APs (5 on both Lang and US History and im taking AP Psych and AB Calc this year) and many honors courses through out my high school career (honors history, honors english, honors spanish, honors race class gender, honors african american literature, honors neuroscience, honors biology) these honors classes are excluding APs

UW GPA: 3.84
Weighted GPA: 4.60

I believe I am also in the top 10% of my class.

Subjects SATS: 720 bio 720 USHistory
Taking the real SATs in october seeing as I wasn't pleased with my march scores...expecting around 2100 or above but you never know....

EXTRA CURRICULAR
Editor in Chief of an online newspaper. I was part of the inaugural staff and we won a pacemaker award, which is comparable to a pulitzer prize of online journalism (as a newspaper not individually). We also won 1st place at NSPA, 3rd at NESPA, and 1st at suffolk university. We're also starting a program in which middle school kids come to the high school and we're teaching them how to start an online newspaper etc. I also started a new section in the online newspaper and was therefore the inaugural managing editor of that section.
Mock Trial Captain: Last year every time I performed I got a perfect score. In addition i've held many roles through out the years.
Peer Leader: I was one of 40/1700 students selected to participate in creating an anti-suicide curriculum for my high school. This included working with guidance counselors and professionals from a nearby trauma center.
Volunteer at local hospital: I volunteered for over 100 hours at a local hospital and trained a volunteer in how to use the systems etc. I worked with several online programs and I helped the nurse's desk and the front desk of a maternity ward.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
I worked at a preschool once a week for about 2 hours. I created a lesson plan for the preschool and I help oversee the children and set up activities.

I know I have good recommendations from teachers and I feel confident about my essay.
I know interviews aren't always considered but I am interviewing and I am confident in my interviewing skills.

Thanks!

PS: I have no legacies and I am a white female

you have a very very strong shot…match

Reach.

65 percent chance

Are my chances significantly lower if i end up not sending my SATs?

I’d say you have a good shot, but it’s a crapshoot. When I visited Bowdoin they said that 80% of their applicants would be able to attend Bowdoin base upon their academics. From the 80% of possible applicants, they had to cut it down to 16% (that’s just from my memory of what their acceptance percentage is, it might be higher or lower, but it’s around there). This means that a lot of it was the students essay, activities and commitment to these activities. They said they wanted to see a story and choose their applicants from that. You seem to have pretty good story in your activities, but you need to makes sure that your story is embellished in your essay.

Reach, work on a essay that will stand out and make you different from the rest

Good Luck!

I’d say that you have a good chance, so long as you write a stellar essay!

@APsooof‌, OP is not a match. that’s ridiculous.

I agree with ECB. Work on your essay :slight_smile: Chance me back? <a href=“GPA going to keep me out? - #3 by mnm111 - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums”>GPA going to keep me out? - #3 by mnm111 - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums;

I’d say low reach because Bowdoin is so competitive. Good luck
