Notable: Throughout school I have had a speech impediment (called stuttering) and have really battled it throughout high school. It has shaped who I am as an individual and I would really like to showcase this to a school like Brown which likes odd characters. I am also a liberal living in a very conservative community where I often get alot of flak, and feel very comfortable voicing my opinion.

I am applying to Brown, Tufts, Columbia, University of Michigan, Wash U, Cornell, and NYU

I think Columbia and UM are your best bets. For Brown, I would advise upping your SATs and write a good essay about your speech impedement or some other defining/molding characterisitc.

It looks like you're really in the same boat as me. It depends on your subscores on your SAT I's as well. Those are def. better than mine. GPA looks good. My interviewer said that really when it comes to Brown and stuff, it's really luck that can play into it. When it comes to your Ivy's, Brown's probably better than Columbia, and Cornell might be a good shot too. April 1 will def. be a busy day! :)

Brown- High reach
Tufts- match
Columbia- High reach
University of Michigan- in
Washington University in St. Louis? reach
Cornell- low reach
NYU- match
(in, math, reach), low being easier to get into, high being harder.

To be honest, an essay about stuttering doesn't sound interesting to me. I mean, it's not exactly something amazing to overcome, you can still have friends, do well in school, be smart, play sports, etc...it's not impeding like a mental or physical disability. And it's clear you aren't isolated from this, because you are involved. I know I haven't lived in your perspective, but it doesn't seem like something you'd need to "battle through", except for maybe a tease here or there from dbag classmates.

GPA could be a little higher to get into a school like Brown.. but Cornell and Tufts look like pretty good matches for you. Wash and Brown look like your reach schools. Mich is definitely your safety. Hope you get accepted!

cross our fingers that we'll be in Brown 2014 together
i think u shuld just get ur sat scores up otherwise u have a much more rigorous courseload than i do and we have the same gpa

which scares me that there are so many like us all applying to brown

Brown - Low reach
Tufts - (High) Match
Columbia - Low Reach
U Mich - In
Wash U - High match
Cornell - High match/ Low Reach (I'm sure you'll get in though)
