Hooks: not applying for financial aid, legacy at vandy
I have a compelling reason to transfer so essays should be pretty good.

welp?

So I take it you’re applying as a sophomore transfer? Well a good rule of thumb is that if you weren’t able to get in as a freshmen to any of the ivies, you probably won’t be getting in as a sophomore transfer. Your ACT is good, but your EC’s (especially from college) don’t look spectacular. Not applying for financial aid at Brown is gonna give you a boost. I think because of legacy and its high admit rate, you’re in at Vanderbilt. If I were you, I would wait until the end of sophomore year to transfer and significantly boost up your resume with internships and accolades.

Also, if you’re intent on transferring out of of Baylor, you should put some safeties in your list, although I’m confident about Vanderbilt.

I think you’re in at Brown, Rice and Vandy, and probably Cornell.
However,
- Like mentioned before, if you didn’t get into Brown or Cornell last year, you most-likely won’t get in.
- Vandy might not have as high an acceptance rate (~40%) this year due to a housing crunch.
- If you don’t get the 4.0 you’re expecting, your chances are weakened a lot due to your lack of great ECs.

Thanks for the advice. UMich is my “safety” because im instate, high transfer rate, etc. Although I don’t have great shots at Rice/Cornell/Brown, do you still think I have enough of a shot that it’s worth applying?

you’re most likely not going to be magically admitted to brown or cornell if you were rejected last year

especially with brown and cornell having such low acceptance rates (around 10% for brown and 9%ish for cornell CAS), its ridiculous to say with any certainty that someone would be admitted. simply having a high GPA is not enough- they receive so many applicants like this. what do you think you can add to the cornell or brown campus?
you may have a fair chance at vanderbilt btw

i’d say you hve a pretty good chance at cornell!! it is supposed to be the easiest ivy to get into. i currently go to vanderbilt, and the transfer acceptance rate is rather high, and i’d say that your stats would qualify you. you would more than liekly get into vanderbilt, and probably you would get accepted to rice. brown i think is a little bit tougher just because it is an ivy that is a bit more selective than cornell. best of luck!

do you think you could chance me too if you get a sec?
