Chance me for Brown, Dartmouth, Duke, Uchicago, Northwestern??

Leave your chance thread, and I'll chance you too :)

White male from the midwest

ACT: 33 (Retaking this in October since my Science was a 28 and I'm hoping to bring it up to a 34 composite...)
SAT II: 740 Math, 720 US History (I'm thinking about retaking in November)

I have not taken the SAT I, though I may decide to do so in October as a standby, depending on what I get on a couple practice tests I'll be taking. Also, is it better to just submit my ACT only, or to submit my ACT and SAT II (for schools that accept ACT in lieu of SAT + SAT II)

Will have most rigorous schedule checked
Senior Year AP classes: Calculus BC, Government, Literature, Chemistry
GPA: 3.97/4 (unweighted) ~4.5/4 (weighted). My 1 B came in freshman year literature.
Rank: 3/491

AP Scores: World History (5), US History (4), Language (5), Statistics (5)

Teacher/Counselor recommendations should be good. Essays should be pretty good, but not excellent.

*Varsity tennis (won a couple tournaments at #1 Doubles; most improved), Chess Team (captain, first board, expanded team membership by double), Hospital Volunteer (100+ hours), NHS, Math team (state qualifier), 3 student of the quarter awards (math/literature/chemistry), Debate (1 time winner of best speaker), Commended on the PSAT, National Spanish Exam recognition

My sibling attended UChicago. Also, I'm first generation.

What are my chances for:
Brown
Dartmouth
Duke
Uchicago
Northwestern
Washington University in St. Louis
Vanderbilt
Yale (incase I get really lucky :), but do you guys think i have like a <1% chance? or something closer to 10%, i dont know if it's worth it to apply)

Note:These are just my reach-type schools, I'm applying to safeties too

I would retake the SATIIs and get a higher SAT or ACT score. Then it will be about essays. Being from a lesser represented state in the MW would also be very helpful.

Yeah, I’m going to try to raise the ACT to a 34/35, but what do you think my chances are if none of my scores improve?

I would advise to increase SAT and SAT II’s. U have strong rank, good job :). Chances look great with higher scores :)

Thanks, I’m definitely going to try and increase my scores. Hopefully I can improve :)

yeah idk dude, your school honestly doesn’t seem too competitive, so i’m not sure how much class rank is gonna help. your scores are good, but not like… BROWN good (or maybe, but kinda borderline?) good job on APs tho :] anyway, i think all are fairly high reaches, Vandy being the most likely, and yeah… yale being 2-3%?

chance me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/786831-let-me-chance-you.html

My school isn’t too competitive, it’s like silver medal or something, its ok, and yeah my scores are about top 25% for ACT at most of these schools, but I probably should get it higher since i don’t really have any hooks or anything

Anyone else?

yeah, just sats/act killing you. ecs are okay, but probably try and uplay some of the stuff, make it sound more intense, i.e. most improv doubles

His ACT score is already high enough to near the 75 percentile at most of the schools he’s applying to. Midwest state helps.

I would tack on UPenn to your list for the RD round, it couldn’t hurt and they’re going for midwestern students at the moment. What subject do you plan on studying? Penn has amazing interdisciplinary opportunities in most popular fields. PM me if you want to learn more about it.

bump~~~~~~~~~

bumpppppppppp

I would say you’re in at Northwestern and Chicago but for Dartmouth/Brown you’ll need an amazing essay/recs
