Brown is a reach for anyone, but your SATs and subject tests are ehh, but your ECs are solid. Honetly its just a crapshoot, but you definitely have a chance! Chance me back, the thread is called game over.

Eh whatever. Thanks!

I think that your ECs and Course load give you quite a good chance in spite of your relatively low SAT. I think it’s the most rigorous course load I’ve seen on college confidential. Does analytic geometry mean geometry with calculus and what is multidimensional analysis?

Analytic Geometry is essentially an investigation of conic sections, and Multidimensional Analysis is sort of mathematical analysis of different dimension in space. It’s more of a lab based course in math if you can believe it. Difficult to explain.

I think you have incredible chances at Brown! Your test scores are a little shaky, but that’s nothing to worry about! (Brown isn’t too test score related) Good luck!

Thanks so much lexieam! I have to disagree about my chances but I’m glad you think I have a shot!

Ivy Leagues are always reaches for everybody; there are tons of applicants with overqualified stats that don’t get in for one reason or another. However, your ethnicity will probably help you a lot. Also, you have a pretty enormous amount of impressive ECs. I have a friend who goes to Brown who is a white male, who I believe only had a 2200 on his SAT, but his GPA was very good. The fact that you don’t have an actual GPA could be harmful, but like everyone else is saying, focus on your essays and really let them know that Brown is your top choice. I’d say you have a relatively good chance. Good luck! :)

Your SAT scores are low, but your extracurriculars are VERY strong, so hopefully that will make up for it. It also helps that you’re a URM. I’d say Brown is a reach, but definitely a possibility.

Chance back please! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/princeton-university/1247439-am-i-right-track-princeton.html

It’s hard to say with the scores/special circumstances, but you’re a strong URM, so I think you have a better shot than you would otherwise.

Thanks everyone!

Your test scores reflect poorly on your advanced math/physics coursework. They suggest that those courses are not half as rigorous as they sound. Your chances are still good because of ECs and URM.

Good point, though I don’t think it’s due to the fact that the courses aren’t rigorous, it’s that these are the only standardized tests that I’ve ever taken in my life, and it’s a bit of a change from group oral examinations in wave physics and relativistic physics, in which we’re given exceptionally difficult problems to tackle and explain orally as opposed to individual work. I’m simply not very good at the tests, and none of the courses at my school actually follow a standard curriculum that might abide by these tests, so that also presents a bit of an issue. Even though I just made a host of excuses, I don’t mean to try to excuse my poor scores. You’re absolutely correct about how it comes off though, I hadn’t thought about that before.
