Chance me for Brown ED?

Hello there! I aspire to attend Brown University through early decision. I know it’s a huge reach, and I know my resumé isn’t very impressive, especially in grades and ECs, but I’d really appreciate it if you would give your opinion on whether I have a decent or hopeless chance at this :slight_smile:

GPA: 3.75 unweighted, 4.0 weighted
ACT composite score: 32 (35 english, 32 reading, 30 science, 29 math, 10 writing)
I am rank at 63/547 in my class

AP classes: AP World history (3), Psychology (5), Human Geography (4), Seminar (3), Calculus AB (4), US History (4), English Language (5)
I am currently taking AP English Literature, AP European History, AP Calculus BC, AP Economics (Micro & then Macro), AP Research, AP Environmental Science, and AP Statistics.

Extracurriculars:
Quiz Bowl
-9th grade: state runner up champions
-10th grade: 3rd place in state but represented my state at the national competition
National Honor Society - 10th and 12th grade
Beta club - 12th grade
National History Day
-9th grade: 3rd place in regionals, advanced to state
Model UN member - 11th grade
STEM club member - 12th grade
Attended Arkansas Governors School

With all this, what’s my chance at Brown? Again, I know it’s a pretty far reach, I do have several safeties.

I always try to be as honest as possible with the students I work with, and so while it pains me to tell you, I really don’t think you have a chance of admission. I would prefer to see an ACT of at least 34, preferably 35 or 36, and yes, you are correct, your extracurricular activities lack the kind of differentiation Brown is looking for. If you are interested in schools at the level of Brown, I would also suggest you consider retaking the ACT in December and applying regular decision with higher scores (if you are willing to put in the work to make that happen.)

OP, retaking the ACT won’t resolve the GPA and low AP scores. And your EC issues. You really should be looking at the info on target colleges’ web sites, to understand the acadeic and activity bars.

You previously said you were in a clas of 33. And mentioned different ECs. What’s up?
