I know my test scores are pretty low, but do I still have a shot at Brown? And what can I do to improve my chances?

I think you definitely have a chance. The only major thing going against you is SAT, and even that is not low enough to kill your chances. If you improve, then you’ll be golden :). O, if you really like brown you can also try applying ED.

Thank you! Will ED really improve my chances by that much?

Anyone else?

Applying to Brown ED will demonstrate your interest to the school, which certainly couldn’t hurt.

Unfortunately, you are unlikely to get in ED to Brown with that SAT score the information available on your application.

If you can get your SAT in the 2300 range then Brown would transform from a high reach to a low reach for you if you applied ED. This is assuming good subject test scores as well as adding more depth in the lab/research area of your application.

If you score a 2300, then your chances increase significantly. The problem I see is that you don’t have many STRONG ECs.

Anyway, ED helps in 3 different ways:

Increases your chances since it’s a higher percentage acceptance.

You will put against an easier pool. (since people who get into HYP would also apply to Brown)

Shows interest

Goooodluck!

Thanks a ton, guys! I will definitely be working on improving my scores. What could I do to make my ECs stronger? I have leadership positions in most of my clubs and for piano, I’ve been playing for a long time and have started a new program. I’m not sure how I could add depth to the research area - I could compete in Intel, I suppose?
