I am willing to chance people back!

@TryYourBest1 I think that it is impossible for anyone to accurately predict the chances of admission to highly selective universities for seniors let alone for sophomores. You still have two years to improve yourself and develop your passions. Don’t worry too much about college admissions yet, just focus on pursuing your interests.

Head of South Asian Society. Are you a ORM? If so, keep in mind the bar is higher for us Asians. I think your stats look good, but there are tons of stories about ivies rejecting those with “perfect scores,” in favor of other students they want to give an opportunity to because of a good (hard luck) story or URM. I recommend you continue to develop your interests and put your best foot forward. You may not get into your first choice, but if you continue to work hard and develop your interests, you are sure to get into somewhere worthwhile.

Out of curiosity, what is it you love about Brown @TryYourBest1?

@preppedparent I am unaware of what ORM is, South Asian Society is just a club on campus that I run. We bring snacks and foods and talk about ongoing events regarding our race, or doing a check-in with everyone see how we are doing thats it. Nothing to big or fancy…but I heard colleges like leaderships in clubs like this.

@paveyourpath I attend a high-tier prep school (Phillips Exeter, Milton Academy, St. Pauls etc) that has a huge campus (125 acres) and major diversities from countries all over the world. In any topic or activity, you can always find someone who has done extensive work and effort into that topic at my school.
This is the same case for Brown. I work very well around students who also have a drive to work. I work well on huge major campuses and large diversities as I have a genuine interest in exploring other peoples cultures.

In terms of academics at the school, Brown has a unique math and computer science department where teachers communicate with their students to learn math by coding. Being an avid coder myself, I a lot by programming. Brown has found a very interesting way to integrate mathematics and computer programming together. I want to show to Brown that with my enthusiasm and talent, I can thrive strongly there and benefit others as well.
In terms of extra-curriculars, I have been playing jazz drums for over 7-8 years now. I have been offered gigs and concerts from Grammy-Award-Winner musicians and prestigious clubs all over the U.S. This year, I am taking out 3 weeks of school as well as the entire March Break to perform on tour around the world. Brown University’s Jazz Band also goes on-tour, but I have never heard them go out of the country. I want to enrich Brown with experience of performing in different environments, contribute and organize the various concerts and programs the Jazz Band does, and learn the techniques of playing in a Big Band setting. I normally play in trio bands, or a combo (8 players max). Playing with 30 will be much different, but the energy never drops down! I love Brown because their acceptance for new ideas is very comforting. I love Brown because the extracurriculars I pursue with passion line-up very well with Browns care and emphasis on those extracurriculars, and also being used to a large campus and large students size. I want to show Brown I don’t need to help in adjusting to college life…that I can hit the ground running!

Your tests scores seem to be in range and you have quite a lot of leadership which would definitely help, especially since you’re only sophomore. The internships also sound super impressive to me since I don’t know of many high schoolers with any. I think you have a decent shot! And since you still have time, I’m sure you will have even more to add when you apply! Good luck!

would you be able to chance me back please?

ORM is overrepresented minority ie Asian versus URM, black or hispanic.
