Hi im a student who is extremely interested in the BS/MD and BA/MD accelerated programs. I realize they are tough to get into. I was just looking for my chances at any of the specific programs, or how I stand in general. My only major issues are my SAT and GPA.

SAT Score: 2060 <- Trying to get that up a lot
ACT Score: 33 <- Taking it one more time
GPA: 3.7 on 4 pt scale <- Working on this too
-Note: i attend a science magnet school (#1 in our state), but i dont know if that makes up at all for the low GPA

SAT Math 1: 800
SAT Math 2: 790
SAT Biology: 780
SAT Chemistry: Pending

ECs:
-County swim team
-Future Doctors of America (founder and president)
-National Honors Society
-Computer Science Team
-Debate Team
-Completing a bioengineering internship this summer
-Shadowed doctors for 50+ hours total
-Volunteer at a nursing home so far for about 200 hours
-Tutoring
-Total of 400+ volunteer and service hours

Merits:
Johns Hopkins National (Science and Mathematics) Talent Search
PHS Science Math and Computer Science Magnet Program acceptance (attending)
RMHS International Baccalaureate Magnet Program acceptance
National Juniors Honors Society inductee
National Honers Society inductee

Thanks so much!

-BTW i'm still a second semester Junior.

You’ll need to bring your SAT up a lot for a fighting chance at getting interviews.

would i be better of submitting just my ACT score if i cant get that up by much?

you can, but I’m not sure how familiar the schools which have the programs are with ACT. But I presume it would work just fine.

I don’t really know about chances, but just a note: showing them the ACT’s vs. the SAT’s (assuming an equal score) will not hurt you. Schools know a good score when they see it (and they have concordance charts if they don’t). Plus, I would argue it would help you in this situation because of the science section. Just my opinion, though.

hmm, that sounds good. But how competitive is my act compared to other people (as it breaks down) :
-English: 28
-Math: 36
-Reading: 33
-Science: 33
(Composite 33)

and i know many colleges ask for ALL scores from act and sat regardless, but is this advisable in my situation with a sub-par sat?

Sorry, I’m not a fan of “chancing,” maybe someone else can help you with that. Either way, good luck with your junior year. :)

GPA needs to be higher. However, your chances will depend on your state of residency. Some states have more bs/md’s at state schools with preferences to state residents. Apply widely and consider going “regular route” also as chances for getting into certain Med. Schools “regular route” are higher than getting into the same schools thru thier respective bs/md’s. What I mean is that, for example, it is easier to get into Northwestern and Case Western Medical Schools “regular route” than get into HPME and PPSP as a high schooler.
BTW, if going “regular route”, your college GPA will need to be 3.6 as absolute min.
