<p>No research or leadership positions in clubs except for being treasurer of Spanish Honor Society, how much will that hurt me? I'm applying to about 20 programs, and plan to do Mech E/BME as a backup major. What schools/programs are safeties/easier but good for me? I'm basically applying to all the top programs, Drexel because my siblings both went there, Ivies, and a few other top 20 schools and mid-range programs.</p>
<p>and have bs/md gotten more competitive? my sister had a 1350ish and only a nursing home ec and got into drexel 8-year 10 years ago. From these forums, it looks like my stats are barely average for even the less competitive programs.</p>
<p>this is actually VERY impressive, I would be surprised if you didn’t get in to at least one. apply to drexel for sure, maybe try penn state/jefferson and and Albany program too</p>
<p>Oh, that’s a relief, these forums were scaring me with guys with better stats than me being told they have a below average chance. Where can I find out which programs want research in HS so I don’t bother applying to them? I know a lot prefer it, but it seems like some require it.</p>
<p>RPI/Albany has a research-focus, so unless you can explain why you have a passion for research, your chances will be low.
On that note, Union/Albany has a leadership focus, which you might be able to pull off if you spin your ECs right, but your application will have to emphasize your leadership ability.</p>
<p>Nobody of us here can estimate the chance, since it is a shot in a sky for most programs. So, apply widely, see what happens, remove some “clubby” activities that mean nothing, nobody cares about meetings once /month, not in HS, not in UG. Adcoms want to see real passions, real deals, number of clubs does not matter. Do you have something that you spend time every day? Like practicing every day for few hours type of deal…Midically related stuff is good, but what are those:

<p>I would not mention anything like this, looks like padding that will turn anybody off. You have enough credentials, you do not need these.</p>
<p>I didn’t include those school clubs in my top 10 activities for CA, and the ones I put on my resume had blurbs about specific events. I have applied so far to UMiami 7yr, EA Harvard (everyone does right?), and Villanova 7yr. </p>
<p>I made a list of programs, and I’m applying to about 20, but I don’t plan on applying to the AMC ones (deadline is over now but I knew about them from before). I would rather go with a standalone undergrad than commit to that particular med school so early.</p>

<p>Solid ECs although a research or intern experience somewhere wouldve helped as you mentioned. Seems like more and more people are becoming EMTs…</p>
