Chance me for BU, Fordham, Northeastern, etc. - Please! :-)

Hi, I'm a high school senior (female) from New York who is interested in the following colleges and I was looking for any opinions regarding my chances. My standardized test scores are up to par; but I don't have too many ECs or any of that. I work a lot. And also, if anyone has any more suggestions of schools for me to look at, let me know! I want to make my list a little bit longer. I'm looking to major in Journalism/Mass Communications and Media

Colleges:
Boston University
Northeastern University
Fordham University
Ithaca College
Emerson College

Me:
SAT : 600 CR, 650 W, 650 M (1900 all together)
ACT : 29 (94th percentile)
GPA : 3.7 (It should be a bit higher by now, my grades so far this year have been pretty good)
Ranking : Top 25%
APs : Psychology and English Lit in the spring, don't know what to expect!

Senior Schedule:
Statistics
Economics
Criminal Law
Digital Darkroom (8 people out of the whole school taking it, I've been doing photography for a while)
AP English
Creative Writing
Journalism II
AP Psychology

I was in honors math throughout high school (Algebra, Geometry, Precalc) up until this year; I chose not to take AP calculus this year. I was in English honors classes as well. I've done well on all of my state tests (only two not in the 90's), and I've remained a pretty good student.

Fall grades:
Statistics - 94
Digital - 98
AP English - 92
Creative Writing - 96
Journalism - 98
AP Psychology - 90

ECs:
School Newspaper - Wrote for it 11th and 12th grade, Editor of Music page this year and creator of the newspaper's website
Manager of Basketball team 9th grade
History Club - 11th and 12th grade, treasurer 12th grade
Homecoming - all four years, helped build and create homecoming floats
Parent/Teacher Conferences - 9th, 12th grade - assisted teachers with time management during conferences (only during one week of school)
Volunteered at silent art auction each year in May

Work Experience
Cashier at local supermarket February '07 - Oct '07 , about 10 hours/week
Barista at local Cafe Oct '07-present, 25+ hours/week (takes over my life!)
Internship at local indie music production company Sept '07-present ; time spent varies. I assist with promotion.

Other:
Summer program at Boston University last summer for two weeks called Summer Challenge, took classes in Business & Mass Communications
(got recommendation from a teacher from the program)
10th grade Saturday Live At F.I.T. - Ten-week program every Saturday in which classes were taken in fashion design

I think my essay is pretty good, I've always been told I was a great writer so hopefully that's true.
According to all of that stuff, do I have a chance at my chosen colleges? I'm being told yes and no, so I was just looking for some opinions from people who have any idea. Thank you!

Is 3.7 weighted?

Yeah. My school does it on a 0-100 scale; so as of junior year it was at 92.

your aiming way too low...

in order of diffuculty
Ithaca- might be ok.
Boston- might be ok. I know lots of people that were accepted with your scores.
Northeastern- should be ok too.
Fordham- In

when i say it might be ok, i mean you have the profile of the average student that applies and gets accepted.

i agree with raiderfan...im not really a fan of ithaca college.

Aiming too low? Where should I be aiming at?

I feel like you're aiming a bit low as well. Although all of those schools are great schools, I bet that you could get into a few better ones.

Do any of you have suggestions as to where I should look at?

Consider Syracuse, USC, NYU, Penn State, Illinois, Washington, North Carolina State, Missouri, and Indiana.

Boston University - match
Northeastern University - safety
Fordham University - safety
Ithaca College - don't know
Emerson College - don't know
Syracuse - slight match
USC - reach
PSU - match
UIUC - match
Washington - match
NCSU - safety
Missouri - safety
IU - match

Note that the reason I mentioned some of the schools on my list wasn't because of how competitive they were, but rather because of their strong journalism/media
or communications schools.

The schools that fall into this category are:
USC--top broadcast journalism program in the country and top film school in the country
Syracuse--top public relations/creative writing programs in the country
Missouri--top journalism program in the country
Indiana--journalism program ranks in the top 3 in the country (and the school overall ranks above Missouri)
NYU--top media market in the country and top film school in the country besides the one at USC

I personally think that USC and NYU are slight reaches, Missouri is a safety, and Indiana is a safe match. Illinois, Penn State, Washington and North Carolina State were suggested because they are match schools for the OP. Syracuse is probably somewhere between a match and a slight reach. (closer to match)

Thank you so much!
