Chance me for Cal Poly Business please?

Hi, I’m applying from out of state with a 3.75 (CSU calculator) and a 1870 on the SAT (690 Math 580 Reading and 600 Writing). What do you think my chances are of getting into Cal Poly’s Business program?

Unfortunately, not very good. Your stats are well below average.

Good luck.

Do you think it’s like a low reach or a high match? Does being Hispanic help?

Oh also my MCA score came out to 4239.1875

SLO: Low Reach

No Hispanic will not help. California publics banned affirmative action and you do realize you are applying to California??? Hispanics are not URM here.

okay thanks, just wanted to know

I got in! Yay i’m so happy!

Happy to have been wrong, congrats!

Thanks man!

congratulations! are you in-state?

Thanks! I’m international.

@collegeer. I was just reading this thread and was going to say NEVER SAY NEVER when applying! Everyone has a chance! And then I looked at the rest of the thread and saw that you were admitted!! Good luck and Congrats from a fellow newly admitted Econ major!

Thanks!

@Gumbymom‌ Hey that’s so not true. Being Hispanic totally counts! In Regents v. Bakke, the Supreme Court ruled that a school (UC Davis in this case) cannot use a quota system to admit minority students over others, and the Supreme Court ruled in Grutter v. Bollinger that it’s within a school’s right to admit students based on ethnicity when the goal is a more diverse student body. Therefore, if Cal Poly thinks they need more Hispanic people, it can admit more Hispanic people.

I applied to Cal Poly for architecture and got in, even though my GPA was low. I believe the fact that I am Hispanic helped me.

California publics give NO preference based on race. [Prop 209](http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Proposition_209)prohibits this practice. However, California schools can give preference based on socioeconomic status.

I think in my case it was because I applied as an international so I was in a different pool of applicants.
