i know i dont have amazing stats, but could please let me know my chances? i really want to go to Cal Poly Slo, but my second choice would be UCSB.
thanks so much everyone!

UCLA/SD/B= reach
SLO= not too sure, but if their compsci is anything like their engineering, it won’t be too easy
matches everywhere else :)

good luck, please chance me if you can :)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1225356-compsci-schools-students-bad-stats-like-me-uc-chancers-please-look.html</a></p>

cal poly slo - high match/low reach
ucsb - high match/low reach
ucd - low reach
ucsc - low match/match
ucla - high reach
ucb - high reach
ucsd - reach

For Cal Poly Fall 2010 Freshman stats, college of Engineering (CS is within engineering):

Avg GPA: 4.03 (Cal Poly counts all of 9th-12th grades)
Avg ACT: 31
Avg SAT (out of 1600) : 1372

I would echo what Vernontwg said, it won’t be easy for you for Cal Poly.

And if Cal Poly looks like will be a reach, then Cal, UCLA, and UCSD will be worse.

@Tfence – BeingSLO has all the admissions stats for Cal Poly and the other schools correct. What you can do is hire a private tutoring service to get your ACT scores up. If you can pull off a score above 30 your chances will be far better. Alternatively, consider back up options: Cal Poly Pomona, an excellent school that I feel is really underrated, and other schools in the Cal State system as well. With UC tuition potentially increasing to levels that will approach what many pay at privates schools [Under plan, UC tuition could rise by 16% a year - SFGate](http://articles.sfgate.com/2011-09-13/news/30147788_1_uc-tuition-uc-students-association-vice-president-patrick-lenz) , looking at Cal States could be a great option.

Good luck!!

What is an SLO? I’m like a super noob here.

@missfrazzled it’s cal poly san luis obispo haha.

Thanks so much for the feedback!

Chance me! UC GPA 3.85 sat 1570

@ Tfence
Definitely try to get that ACT up…and you may want to take the SAT as well.
SLO prefers the ACT, but there is no harm in taking 2 tests instead of 1 … and some people are better suited to the SAT (just as some are better suited for the ACT).

@youngfolks
If that SAT is out of 1600, your odds are generally decent
If its out of 2400 RETAKE that SAT ASAP
