Chance me for Cal Poly SLO?

Can someone chance me for Cal Poly SLO? Will applying early decision increase my chances of getting accepted?

My junior grades are the ones that brought my GPA down the most. Would it be better to wait for regular decision to apply and include my first semester senior grades as well or should I apply early decision/early action? Thanks!

depends on your major, but your ACT score is good, but your GPA is a bit low I think
early decision does increase your chances of getting accepted, but it’s binding

SLO will not consider Senior grades for admission decisions. Admission decisions are based on your 9-11th grades only. Senior grades will be just to maintain your provisional admission if accepted. Essays and Teacher recommendations are not part of the CSU application to SLO and they do not accept additional documentation beyond the application and official SAT/ACT test scores.

If SLO is your ultimate #1 choice, then apply ED and it may help with your chances. I think the decision could go either way, but if not accepted ED you will be automatically deferred to RD.

I want to major in Biology, nothing in engineering. I know that’s the most competitive major to get into. Will it be easier to get in as Bio major with my stats because the school isn’t known for it?

Biology has about a 25% acceptance rate and is one of the most popular majors in the College of Sciences with over 4000 applicants each year. Your GPA is below the average of 4.06 so that it is why I stated it could go either way and is definitely not a solid match even with your above average ACT. SLO is known for their STEM/Architecture and Business majors. Applying ED will help your chances.

I see. Thank you!

Your stats are below average but not totally out of range. Apply ED and see how it goes.

SDSU, UCR and CSU LB are probably better matches for you.

Good luck
