Chance me for Cal, Stanford, Columbia, and CMU?

Hey guys! Stanford, Cal, CMU, and the other Ivies are my dream schools, and I was wondering how I look.

SAT: 2290 (I'll try for a 23+)
GPA: 4.0 UW (very high 4 weighted). I would have taken 8-9 AP classes and several honors classes (no regular classes from 10th-12th)
SAT II: 750 on Math II, 780 on Chem
Rank: Our school doesn't have ranks but I'm in the top 10% and it's possibly one of the top 5 schools in my area.
ECs: There are three things that I focus on in particular and these are activities that I have a genuine passion for and the only ones worth mentioning when applying to college. I'm on the varsity golf team and am by no means the next Tiger Woods, but have an unfeigned passion for the game regardless of how good I am or will be. I also started this technology website that has gathered a considerable following and I'm very interested in it. Finally, I'm head junior volunteer for a non-profit that provides college tuition for people in third world countries and during the summer, I traveled to a remote part of India and witnessed first hand the benefits of my work. And to top it all off, at the organization's annual event, a beneficiary of the program came up to me and thanked me for my work, proving my impact.
Extra Stuff: I'm part of this organization that globally recognizes start-ups and it is through our work that these companies have received over 2 billion dollars worth of funding. I also volunteer for an organization that helps abused women find half-way homes. OH and i possible may become a member of my city's youth advisory council so yeah :D

How do I look when applying to these schools?

Nice stats/scores! It’s good that you have leadership in your ECs too. Tey are a bit spread out though. But wrte a compelling essay and you would have a pretty good shot. But still the very selective universities are reaches for anybody.

Chance back ? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=15268935</a>
Thanks

You’re a highly accomplished applicant, so you already look good for the colleges you listed. The only problem I see in your EC’s is that you don’t seem to be focused on one particular area (Business, IT, International Development, Politics, etc.). Despite what other people say, HYPSM aren’t looking for “well-rounded” applicants. Instead, these schools look for “specialists” - applicants who significant passion in one area through EC’s, research/internships, coursework, recommendations, etc. These applicants have excellent academics and show passion for other areas, but their primary passion is what sets them apart (and ultimately gets them admitted).

You’re aiming for the best schools in the nation so I think you should use your remaining time to prove your passion for one area of interest. If you do, you’ll stand out among your competition and have a good theme that you can structure your essays around. Good luck.
