Chance me for Cal, UCLA, SD

UCLA is my dream school! I didn't get in during high school because I was in an academy in school that took up too much time and my counselor didn't notify me that I had to take an extra year of science to complete the A-G requirements, but I graduated with 4.6 GPA overall because of tons of AP's, honors in all four years, CSF seal bearer, and +250 volunteer hours at hospitals. I know, it sucks.

Now I'm at my second year of a CCC applying to transfer, I also took a bunch of CCC classes while in high school
Applying to UCLA, Cal, UCSD (Tag)
Major is Philosophy (NOT impacted)
GPA 3.7
Major GPA 4.0
Average GPA admitted Fall 2013 3.61
IGETC certified
I just need one more class to finish all the lower divisions prerequisites that I have planned to take Spring 2014
Been working part-time and full-time student
Personal statements I think are maybe above average?
In two clubs currently, including philosophy club
Sponsor an orphan overseas, I like giving back
Caucasian/European, if that even helps
300+ volunteer hours..

I just got a letter from my college for membership in the Phi Theta Kappa but I don't quite know if it will help my chances in getting into UCLA :/

Thank you in advance!

Cool, I’m a philosophy major applying to UCLA too!

Your chances are excellent. Philosophy is fairly easy to transfer into at UCLA(About 60% of applicants to that major are accepted). Your GPA is above the average and you’ll have your last prerequisite completed soon. Will it be completed by the end of fall or spring?

And no, Phi Theta Kappa doesn’t really help in trying to transfer to the UCs, despite what they might tell you. I was a member of that club and they told me that. Came to find out that that was some bull****.

Your major GPA is perfect. UCLA really cares about that. I’d say you have a great shot at that school. I hope you get in!

Your chances at UC Berkeley are also good. They care much more about ECs than any other UC and yours seem to be good.

Thank you Cayton for your input! I finally got some answers.

I just need one more prerequisite that I have already enrolled for in Spring 2014. I’m currently taking two now. They didn’t have the course I need in the winter :/

Damned budget cuts making some courses unavailable in Winter. >:(

Since philosophy is not at all impacted at UCLA, they shouldn’t mind you taking your last pre-req in spring. Now, if you were majoring in something like biology or political science…

Or Business Econ…

18 units this semester: Calc III, Managerial Acct, Business Stat, Microecon, Crit. Thinking in Lit (2nd semester of English, essentially)

Crying.

I actually just recently changed my major from Poli Sci to Phil. After taking two courses of Poli Sci I realized how much I disliked the subject, plus VERY impacted at UCLA. I’m planning on going to law school for grad school, therefore I wasn’t too particular about my major

@Gunnnn

Damn…just…damn…

@UCLATink

I think you’ll like philosophy a lot. Also, it prepares you very well for the LSAT. The major is practically designed to prepare you for it, lol
