The only school among that group that I"m aware provides the acceptance rates by major is UCLA, and you’ve picked the highest acceptance major there. I’m guessing that is not random chance and you’ve done your homework.
You seem to be picking majors just based on likelihood of acceptance. That may make it hard to write compelling personal statements. Are you planning to get in under whatever major you can and then figuring it out once you get there? Could work I guess.
Your stats for these schools are borderline/low, so make sure you have some high-likelihood options in the mix as well. Also, check out profiles.asee.org. They have acceptance rates and test ranges for engineering applicants at each school.
@mobius911 Yes, for UCLA Materials Engineering, I know I want to just get into the engineering school, but for USC I am applying Dornsife, because I am not sure if I would like to study business or engineering there, if it is engineering Computational Mathematics is very close to engineering. But thanks for the advice!
You have a weak SAT score, a weak GPA (2 C’s and 8 B’s), and weak AP test scores. You need to add more safety schools.
USC- Dornsife (Applied Mathematics or Math/Econ) Reach
UCI-Computer Engineering Match
UCSD-Electrical Engineering High Match
UCSB-Computer Engineering Match
UCLA-Materials Engineering Reach
UCB- L&S Computer Science High Reach
JHU-Computer Engineering High Reach
CMU-Mechanical Engineering Reach
@SAT4Breakfast , generally speaking if UCLA is a Reach, then UCB can not be a Low-Reach (especially for CSC)and more so for JHU!
I consider both UCLA and UCLA reaches!
This is just solely based on what i’ve read and I’ve known a lot of people at my school who’ve gotten into these school so its just based on that i guess. Good Luck!
