I’m going to have a 4.0 after my junior year and currently have a 1300 on the SAT, going to get that up to a 1400. What are my chances of getting into UCs and good CSU’s. My intended major is either mathematics or Computer Science.
The UC’s and CSU’s have their own GPA calculation which uses grades for your a-g courses taken 10-11th only. Cal Poly SLO is the exception which uses 9-11th grades for the a-g courses.
All the UC’s and CSU’s use the capped weighted UC/CSU GPA (8 semesters of extra honors points 10-11th grades) for UC approved Honors courses (California HS’s only), AP/IB and DE courses. UCLA/UCB also use the fully weighted UC GPA (unlimited semesters of honors points 10-11th grades).
So first calculate your UC/CSU GPA: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
This link will show which a-g courses will get the extra Honors points if you are CA HS student by typing in the name of your HS: https://hs-articulation.ucop.edu/agcourselist#/list/search/institution
Once you have your CSU/UC GPA, repost with the information.
Here is some statistical data on UC admit rates based on the UC capped weighted GPA and not major specific. For CS, since this one of the more competitive majors, expect the admit rates to be lower and test scores higher for an acceptance.
Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19:
UCB: 12.6%
UCLA: 11.7%
UCSD: 38.7%
UCSB: 53.6%
UCD: 56.5%
UCI: 52.1%
UCSC: 75.7%
UCR: 90.1%
UCM: 96.1%
Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 4.20 or above:
UCB: 42.7%
UCLA: 47.2%
UCSD: 84.2%
UCSB: 82.0%
UCD: 90.3%
UCI: 94.1%
UCSC: 92.7%
UCR: 97.5
UCM: 98.1%
25th - 75th percentiles for SAT:
UCB: 1280-1490
UCLA: 1280-1500
UCSD: 1250-1470
UCSB: 1210- 1450
UCD: 1190-1430
UCI: 1190-1420
UCSC: 1170-1380
UCR: 1090-1310
UCM: 1020-1230
For all CSU’s except SLO, they admit by eligibility index and major.
Here is the EI calculation: (CSU/UC GPA capped weighted x800) + (SAT Math+EBRW).
SLO uses an MCA point score and you can see how to calculate here on post #52

For the CSUs, you are very likely to be admitted everywhere but CP SLO. There, and for the UCs, I need to know of s that is a weighted or unweighted GPA.
the 4.0 is my weighted GPA, I got a 3.67 during sophomore year and now going to get a 4.4 junior year
Is that the CSU/UC capped weighted GPA? https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
UCR, UCSC and UCM would be your best bet, the others could happen but, I’d focus there.
My daughter’s stressing over her UCI acceptance. Gpa 4.71 sat 1310 act 24. #1 in her school. Going for bio. Her twin sister gpa 4.71 sat 1290 act 27 and #2 in her school received early acceptance and honors majoring in political science. Any worries?
Bio is more impacted than political science and more difficult to get into at the UC’s. The is why D#1 is still waiting to hear while D#2 has early acceptances though both D’s have similar stats.
