C’mon Common people that are lookinggg. I need as many of y’all to help.

This isn’t the chance subforum.

And no, you will probably not get in with those test scores as Caltech wants very high test scores.

Omg whoops sorry. Wrong forum.

Are u in a gang? good EC I think…

If you could tell me your ethnicity I could give you a better answer.
No offense. Just for purposes…

@lifeishard‌ ; Life is hard when you’re Asian, particularly Indian. I think you wanna know my gang name - It’s the nerd herd.

uh…

Their average SAT is about a 2300. You can probably figure it out. Also, 99.09% of their students have a 700+ in Math, although that is referring to their SAT 1 Math data, according to their Common Data Set http://finance.caltech.edu/documents/198-cds2014_final.pdf

@Mathematical‌ & @Cosmological‌ ; Your usernames are perfect. No lie.

While that may be true, are only #s that important? (If you’re a thug?)

@therealthuglyfe No, numbers are not the only thing they consider, but you would probably have the lowest SAT there as a student or be in the bottom few percent. Your GPA is stellar, so that’s good, and it’s good that you also take dual enrollment classes. Nothing seems to stand out so much about your extracurriculars. 1000+ volunteer hours is very good, and your internship seems like a plus, but everything else is something a lo of people can have. It is basically a requirement that everyone who goes to Caltech has taken calculus in high school, so you met that requirement, but only barely with Calc AB. I’m betting most people have done at least Calc BC, Multivariable Calc, and Linear Algebra in high school who are at Caltech, though maybe going up to Linear Algebra is maybe a bit of an exaggeration.

Never mind, excuse me. Your ACTs are pretty good, but on the lower end for Caltech. Still, your SAT subject test in Math is really low for Caltech.

Average sat is 2350 at caltech. I wouldn’t bother applying.

Your class rank and GPA are very impressive, as are your dual enrollment courses. However, Caltech has an average SAT score of 2310. The 25th percentile is 2230. Your SAT/SAT2 scores unfortunately make Caltech an extreme reach. I would highly suggest taking some standardized tests again. Otherwise, your applicant is strong, but one huge weakness is all it takes for Caltech to reject someone.

@PurePhysics I highly doubt it’s that high. According to the College Board, only about 7000 people got a 2300+ on the SAT. That would mean that about 3.5% of all people who got a 2300+ are at Caltech, which would assume that just about half of everyone with a 2300+ applied to Caltech, which is really unlikely.

My apologies, it’s a bit above average… 2300 IS indeed the average, however… 2350 lies in only the 65th percentile or something of the sort.

100% chance Caltech will accept, because you are king

wooohoo

Thank you @TheCoachman I merged the 2 threads.

@skieurope‌ Thank you so much

Nope, Caltech is out of reach for you. They are quirky about admissions but they “like” anything above a 2300. LOR’s and essays are extremely important to Caltech as is the honor code.

Look at the common data set to confirm the scores. My son is at Caltech this year. His SAT was 2370. He had multiple awards and 1000’s of Boy Scout hours, senator recommendations, etc. ad nauseum, but he also is an excellent essay writer.
Oh, and i would drop the gang wannabe junk, hard to read and doesn’t seem funny.

Lol 6.2 weighted gpa? Nice
