Thanks for taking the time to chance me!

excellent ACT and rank, ur USAMO and chess champ looks very nice.
in terms of EC, above average

Carnegie mello - no idea
MIT - mid reach
Northwestern - high match
UPenn - low reach, high match

gluck

Carnegie Mellon-low match
Case Western-safety
MIT- reach
Northwestern-match
UPenn-reach

I was using a format from another thread. I did not compete in the usamo.

I’m going to take the “()” out right now so no one else is confused.

edit: (well it is not letting me edit the original post…)

okay, so penn will NEVER be a high match applying rd according to some moron who posted that earlier. however, apply penn ED, and you are VERY COMPETITIVE! so that’s what i’d do. i would actually send in your SAT score, showing your 780 math will be impressive to the admissions officer, and your SAT score is nevertheless excellent. MIT is a toughie b/c of your math not being 36/800 haha, but it’s still within a mid reach level. your dedication to chess is evident, and that will be attractive to many upper level schools. everywhere else seems like a match or high match. good luck!

chance back please!

well penn early decision was nov 1st so that boat is sailed (and i’m not 100% sure if I want to go there anyways because I do not like Philadelphia that much)

one question: why early decision anyways? the percentage of being accepted is higher, aren’t the applicants more qualified?

well, that’s what they say… sort of… when you make a BINDING commitment to a school, the school sees that it’s your top choice, and so they’re more likely to give admission. same sort of pattern with EA etc… for penn, especially, it more than doubles the acceptance rate from 14 to 32 percent. that’s a helluva difference

bump! I’ll chance others

CMU-high match
Case Western-match
UPenn-low reach
MIT-mid reach
Northwestern-high match/low reach

Good luck :)

Chance back, please!
