First time, little to no preparation. I'm registered to take the next upcoming one.

What do y'all think?

Bump! Please?

Bumppppp…

Rise that ACT if you can, whatever your major is make sure you are able to prove some sort of passion for it (you seem pretty into debate, so if you’re a pre-law student, deff mention that in your essay. But other than that your ECs look great, the SAT is above the average at Carnegie Mellon, although maybe you should retake it to boost the Math to a 700+. Good Luck :)

Haha, yeah. I probably should have mentioned that I plan on applying to their School of Humanities & Social Sciences and am torn between declaring Economics and a Policy and Management as a major.

I’m definitely going to retake my ACT (and prepare for it). And I totally agree that a 650 is too low. I’ll probably end up taking the SAT reasoning in Nov to bring it up, depending on how my subject-tests go.
Thanks so much for your insight! (:

It seems as though you have a pretty good shot at getting in. Your ethnic background should prove helpful, and your GPA is stellar. I would advise, however, that you try and raise either your ACT or SAT scores (math in particular). Remember, CMU is a math intensive school that values a strong math background. Obviously, your EC’s are great, and make sure to write good essays. Good luck!

What school within CMU are you applying to? Some are harder to get into than others, although your stats are impressive and will give you a good shot at most of them.

@yankees94, I definitely plan on brushing up on my Math for the ACT/SATs. My biggest problem was having forgotten how to best approach geometry problems because of how long ago it was. I’ll work on it. (:

@jogo84, I’m applying to their College of Humanities and Social Science, which, from what I’ve seen, has a relatively high acceptance rate in comparison to their other colleges. I’m hoping that the focus of my ECs will give me a slight edge since they’re fairly SS oriented.

Oh, and I just realized I forgot to put Statistics AP on my senior course load.

apply early decision and you’ve got a good shot. you’ll likely get in actually. chance back!

I’m planning on applying for their second ED, is that still relatively good? I mean, obviously ED1 would be better, but I can’t allow myself to pass up Rice, so will December still be better in comparison to just plainly applying in Jan?

Bumpppp…
