Not Saying to chance me everywhere! Just tell the ones you feel like and post the link of your chances thread so that I can chance you:) I would be keen to know my chances in Minnesota UIUC UT Austin UCSD
My Stats:
I am an International applicant.
GPA : 92%
10th Boards in ICSE : 90%
ACT Math : 35
ACT Science : 30
ACT English : 29
Composite is 28 though
SAT Math : 740
SAT CR : 560:(
SAT W : 660
Essays : One of the best my school counsellor has seen
ECs : Wont mention all on public forum. I can say that these can make me stand out as an applicant
Anyhow,
The main hook I may say I have on others are my Internships related to Chemical Engineering in reputed pharma firms.
i have shown my complete commitment in them for a period of 4 years. One of the most imp 1 was an International Internship in Spain.
My ECs and Essays are all Career oriented.
7 Internships in 5 firms and 2 universities along with 3 more research projects inside and even out of India.
I have those normal sports, drama and debate awards as ECs anyone would have too.
Another hook I may have may be my community service. It was not just a community service any other applicant would have. I travelled all over my state and built 100 Water Reverse Osmosis Plants, 1000 Solar Lamps, and 10 Adult Literacy centre for over a year. I have taught villagers spoken English, Mathematics and Computer skills too.
I have more Community Service through more clubs and about Internships of high level topics from 7 firms.
P.S. : Sry if I looked I boasted about anything:p
I would be thankful if anyone would chance me!
Not a really good chance for UIUC in my opinion. SAT/ACT scores are low… being an international student will make things much harder for you as well as your ECs. Unless you hand built every aspect of all of those lamps and things then you need to specify what YOU did. You’d have to completely give up school to build 10 complete centers as well as 100 reverse osmosis plants by yourself. Your internship is cool but lots of students do things equivalent.
Overall: Quiet a bit of a reach because you’re an international applicant and your stats aren’t great, especially for engineering. (http://engineering.illinois.edu/admissions/undergraduate/) The middle 50 for engineers is 31-34.
@MandarinSin ok Anyhow thanks
dont know much about international students/ICSE’s but i would suggest raising the SAT scores if possible…Volunteer work/EC’s sound outstanding
Update : Got a 770 in Math lv 2 SAT Subject test
Sat, act is a little low. But still have chance depend is major
Major : Chemical Engineering
Since you did not mention anything about finances, I guess you can pay for your education and that being said here are my opinions:
-UT austin: Match
-U Washingtion: Low Match
-UCB: Low Reach/Reach (Tough for intl’)
-UCLA: Low Reach/Reach (Tough for intl’)
- Virginia Tech & Georgia Tech: Match.
That is because of your outstanding ECs. However, your nationality and origins will matter a lot because there is a huge difference between a chinese Applicant and an applicant from Rwanda for example.
Chance me back please: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1736352-chance-me-please-updated-will-chance-back-if-you-want.html
ACT is way too low for ChemE at these schools. take it again and get that score up.
I’m international and I think your stats are better than mine. I was accepted into UW Madison and Georgia Tech already. If you’re interested in my stats, you can chech them in the post “Chance me if you can :)”
Best of lucks!
@AndyGirlSays, what is your gender?
90% in ICSE is too low IMO. SAT isn’t helping you. You are applying to engineering schools some of the most competitive out there. Andygirlsays got in because she applied as a music major( not nearly as competitive as an engineering major)
- UCB-Reach
- UT AUSTIN-Low Reach
- U Minnesota Twin Cities-High Match-Match
- UIUC-High Match
- UCLA-Reach
- UVA-High Match
- Virginia Tech-Match
- Georgia Tech-Reach
- UCSD-High Match
- Wisconsin Madison-Match-High Match
- U Washington- Low Match
High Match means more difficult to get in than a match catch up to the CC slang
Oh I know that :stuckouttongueclosedeyes: I was just asking you wat do you feel about my chances there Like Minnesota is ranked 3rd in Chemical Engineering and Wisconsin 5th
@JANSAT2400 What do you mean? I applied to Chemical Engineering too
