Chance Me for Civil Engineering/Construction Management

CSU gpa: 3.65 (low, I know)

ACT composite: 33

AP classes: US history, gov, macro econ, world history, physics I, english lit, english lang, calc AB and BC
(will graduate with 11 semesters of math)
I have also been in CTE autocad/engineering elective classes since freshman year and currently taking Engineering Science and Design

Self calculated MCA: 4465/5000 (but I feel like I did it wrong since my gpa is so low)

Extracurriculars: National Honor Society, Key Club, life long girl scout, part of a venturing crew (co-ed boy scouts), editor in chief of yearbook, club soccer, newspaper staff writer, vice chair of a grant gifting organization made up of high school aged girls

Jobs: unpaid internship at civil/environmental/mechanical engineering and consulting firm during my senior year, 15 hours a week. summer job as a merit badge counselor at a boy scout camp (I am a girl).

Awards: AP Scholar, over 10 individual awards for yearbook (2 national awards)

I am OOS (texas) but was born and raised in SLO, moving during elementary school. Does that give me an advantage at all?

I applied with Civil as my first choice and Construction management as second. I am heartbroken cal poly no longer does ED because it is my top choice, but do I have a decent shot at getting in?

Is your CSU GPA the SLO GPA (9th-11th grades)?

No advantage if you are a former local.

Yes, and my act is English and math only (35 English, 31 math)

Civil Engineering has around a 35% acceptance rate while Construction Management is closer to a 90% acceptance rate, so you definitely have a good chance at an acceptance if SLO will consider your alternate major.

Your test scores are great along with HS course rigor, so other than your GPA, you look like a solid applicant. For Civil Engineering, I would be put you at a High Match. Good luck.

My son was accepted to CE last year with a 4493, so it looks like you are in the ballpark

Where do you find the major-specific acceptance rates? Thanks!

There are no major specific acceptance rates, only major specific projections. They can be found on CP’s web site under institutional research. Find your major and divide FTF spots by FTF applicants and then multiply by 3 (for yield). Yield is actually higher in engineering and probably even higher for some specific majors, so figure that number will slightly over estimate.
