I think you have a decent chance for CMU Engineering. The 3 in AP Calc AB might raise some questions, but your extracurriculars should make up for that. The fact that you studied for all those AP tests says something. Make sure you request an admissions interview if you haven’t yet. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I think you have a very good chance, especially if you demonstrate interest. Are you planning on RD this year?

Thank you both for chancing me.

@quark104449 - I am hoping they are a little lenient, considering I was on my own for the AP’s. I did have do a campus visit/tour, and had an admissions interview. I thought the interview went pretty well - it was definitely helpful for me - but the counselor made it sound like the interview didn’t have any effect on my admissions chances.

@kaukauna yes, I applied RD on Jan 1st.

Glad to hear your interview went well! The admissions interview is pretty important, but more important in the sense that you make a lasting impression. That’s because you want the counselor to vouch for you when your application comes up for discussion. I’m a CMU alumni and also an admissions interviewer. Feel free to ask more questions.

Update - rejected for both the engineering school and the Tepper school of business. I was accepted at Virginia Tech, Purdue, and UVA. Does anyone know the stats on CMU’s acceptance rates this year? I’m wondering if being from NoVA and/or male might have hurt me somewhat.
