I dont know if this helps, but both my parents went to Colgate and i think that might give me an advantage. I am also Iranian so i was wondering if that would help me. Any help is greatly appreciated. I really like Tufts and am probably going to apply ED. Do you think i have a good shot. Please chance me by telling me if they are low/high reaches, saftey, low/high matches. Thanks! I will chance back

I’m not exactly sure but as an Iranian are you considered Asian or Middle Eastern? If it’s the former, it could actually be a disadvantage. Your GPA, SAT and ECs are a little weak, making a lot of the top schools reaches. What did you get on SAT Writing?

Colgate - high match (legacy)
Tulane - reach
GW - reach
American University - high match
Emory - reach
Tufts(early decision?) - reach
Northwestern - high reach
Drexel - match
Oberlin - low reach
Syracuse - match/safety
Wake Forest - high match
U of Chicago - high reach
Cornell(the less prestigious part) - high reach

580 on the SAT writing. Iranian is middle eastern. thanks for the help.

please chance me!!! i will chance back!

your UW GPA and Weighted are very close, have you not taken that many AP or Honors level classes?

ive taken 2 honors class every year and 1 ap every year so overall in highschool ive taken 8 honors classes and 4 ap’s. Thats just what my weighted gpa is.

How large is your graduating class and are you ranked in the top 10%?

they dont rank. but its about 250 kids in the class. if i had to guess. i would say i am not in the top 10%

The language clubs help a lot for liberalish schools like brandeis

good to know. can u please chance me for the colleges listed above?

I am chancing you back as promised
I only know Colgate bing tufts syracuse uchicago and cornell
Now the only thing that strikes me negatively from your application are your numbers (sat and gpa)
For some of the higher end schools (cornell u chicago and tufts) you need some leadership positions to offset your gpa

COLGATE …hmmm my mom’s friend’s son had a 2300 on SAT and applied there but he had NOTHING ELSE soso essays no leadership 90 gpa and he got rejected from ED.

so I can say colgate is no scores only so your legacy might really help in this case
BING: MATCH
TUFTS: low to med reach
Cornell: Reach
UChicago: (the kids that made it in from my high school, brooklyn tech, have 2300s on their SAT… but other than that I do not really know what they want so I cannot chance you for this one
Syracuse: safety to low match(as in easy to get in to)

thank you for chancing back! TUFTS IS MY DREAM SCHOOL! when u say low to mid reach, is that with Early decision. If so, what percentage would you give me of getting in. Also, i would really like to know about Emory as well as it would probably be a close second to tufts. Do you think i should use my ED on emory instead of tufts?

chancing u back as promised, honestly ur sats are too low for u get into the higher, more competetive programs/colleges. Besides that, i agree with the rest of the consensus

what about emory!!!

Emory- reach
Tulane- match
Wake- low reach
Roch- low reach
Nw- high reach
All I know!!! Good hunting and good Luck!!!

Thanks. Really appreciate the reply.
