I am not trying for the Honors Program, but I reallly wanna get in College Park Scholars!!!
Could you insiders who know so much about UMD help me achieve this dream?

I think you have a pretty good chance. I think your GPA and SAT are in range. You have good EC’s, which is also a factor for Scholars.

Thanks MDDad, if you or anyone else wouldn’t mind to share some details on the college park scholar experience, that would be awesome.

Scholars is a great program, and most participants enjoy the experience. It’s good to have a group of people who you live with and share at least the scholars class with (but frequently others, as well), especially as a freshman. The internship experiences are varied, but are good. One poster whose son is a sr. this year did an internship for a congressman on Capitol Hill as part of the program you are interested in. Best of luck to you; I agree that your stats are competitive to be admitted into scholars.

Also, I think that your community service and volunteer experience will be another reason why they will really consider your application for Scholars…it seems like most people who are admitted to the program have a pretty strong background in doing things that make a difference in high school.

Thanks! Sounds pretty awesome.
